That’s true, but that’s the reason for having the 12v alternator in the system, too. We’re only talking temporarily here as 1 alternator is dead in this example. As long as you refrain from using 12v accessories, you can run fine with just the 24v alternator. Driving without the radio on is a...
Awesome! Thanks for the Plan B and Leece and Vannar info! That's exactly what I was looking for. It would be nice to be able to carry this over to my 5 tons and deuces without having to remove the 24 alternators and slapping on 2 more. Ideally, I could leave the stock 24 and just add a 12v to...
I've searched and researched a lot the past week on the CUCV electrical system as well as those on multiple other vehicles. I really like having a 24v starter. I really like having an alternator that charges in 12V so I can run 12V accessories. My question is, are there any cons to replacing my...
Sadly, the two buildings I was looking at renting for my business didn't work out (one sold and the other one the owner backed out of the deal). I have my eyes peeled, but I kind of live in the middle of no where, and shop space is hard to come by. I'm saving up to put my own building up, but...
@porkysplace - If things go right, I will be able to make these to order. I've found a new supplier for material, so I won't have to buy in bulk; I'll be able to buy only what I need. In other words, don't worry about pre-ordering. If you want one, you'll pay using Pay Pal, then I'll ship the...
Heath, I'm curious as well what the benefits are. I'm working on my own home made kit using an Arduino micro processor to read EGT's and boost to variably control 2 nozzles. If it's worth it, I'll make one for the deuce, too.
Would it be worth me washing it and priming it so that all you guys have to do is scuff it and top coat it? This will of course add cost, but it will make painting it a no-brainer. This will ensure it is properly primed. I wouldn't warrant the primer against scratches from shipping. I guess I...
That's a great point! It's not hard to paint; you just have to know what to paint it with. I will make sure I supply ample information about what is needed to paint it with. It is important to properly clean it and prime it before color coating it (as is the case with any paint job). I will...
Will it come painted? Thinking probably not. The steel is galvanized, so it won't be rusting anytime soon, if ever. There are entirely too many variables with paint. Owners of woodlands camo trucks will most likely want to paint their own to match up the paint lines. Tan would be an easy one...
Well I'm really glad to hear all the positive feedback. Asking vendors about selling them is an excellent idea! If I make it a 2 piece design, shipping shouldn't be too bad. To make replica hard tops, I'd have to invest thousands into dies. A die can cost $5-10k. I'm trying to make this work...
I'm just putting a feeler out to see how much interest there is in M35A2 hard tops. I am starting my own business and will be fabricating steel and aluminum products. I'm focusing on off-road accessories for Jeeps, Toyota's, and full size pickups. I see a demand for hard tops for M35A2's and...
You guys don't believe anything I say anyways so I'll quit wasting my time till I have proof. I'll post a vid with specs when I get home in a few weeks. I'm going to GPS the truck, too, to make sure you nitpickers don't have anything to nitpick.
Lol..... putting antifreeze in the water probably wouldn't be any different than the motors run anyways since they can't keep a head gasket and both of mine burn water
Are you saying to go with 11's instead of 395's? I'm getting close to purchasing a set of tires. Thinking 395's at this point, but also like the idea of dual 11's in the rear and 14.5's up front.
Can you elaborate? You use distilled water in your cooling system because hard water will plug up the system. Why wouldn't it be the same for the combustion chamber??
EDIT: "Best of all, water costs very little. When using water it‘s important to use distilled water and not tap water. Tap...
Maybe it's a lemon?? It was a fairly new motor when I got it. It pretty much just sits now. My good deuce isn't getting cranked up at all. I want my grand kids to take rides in it 50 years from now.
Meh... the trucks been all over the state of Kansas at 3200 RPM. It has over 20,000 miles on trips like that. It's served its purpose. If it wants to blow up, I'll get another. (The reaction I got from you guys about the 3200 RPM deal gave me a pretty good chuckle.)
