Changed it out. That went well. Thanks.
The rod was stuck down, so I did end up removing the plate. Greased rod and it held until I replaced the plate and pump. Auto parts store had the plate gasket. I think it was part 5182 (or something like that) I cross referenced with an 89 blazer. I...
I went by the TM when I did mine. Worth checking because it mentioned that a couple of the fittings should not be over greased or it would cause problems.
I found one locally and was going to install tonight. I'm under the impression that I will have to crank it over quite a bit to get fuel flow to the injector pump again after replacing the lift pump, will that harm the glow plugs (just replaced). Should I disconnect the glow plugs during all...
So I disconnected the skinny vent line going to the top of the air cleaner and ran it towards the cab, so that I could observe it through the doghouse opening. While driving I saw spurts of diesel shooting out the vent line. This is not the thick vent line with the check valve, this is the...
I have noticed that I get a little oily fluid under my truck, which I have traced back up to the air cleaner dump valve, and confirmed a little of it inside the air cleaner housing.
The fluid isn't ATF (thankfully), it is a clear-ish brown fluid. I had been thinking that it could be power...
how rough are we talking? i have a tapping sound now.
i feel very certain i got all of the broken glow plug out and none fell into the cylinder. i've only let it run a few seconds.
I ended up removing the crossover. The broken piece was completed seized so i used heat and an extractor, no luck. I knocked what i could out with a chisel, then took a big drill bit to it.
Once i got the broken piece cut down to the beginning of the threads, I was still unable to get the...
I have a TSU that I was about to install today. When I went to remove the old glow plug controller, I found that it was overtorqued or seized into the crossover pipe.
I went at it gently with a ratchet and big socket, couldn't move it, then put a breaker bar on the socket and slowly applied...
That's a great idea, it'll give me something to do until the ESSS shows up. I've cleaned up all the old grounds but adding a ground harness will help protect the investment in parts I just bought.
Thanks. I haven't started her up yet or reconnected the batteries, I have my old PCB removed and am installing an S3 ESSS this week. I'm excited to get it installed and have her starting like normal again. I ohmed out the old glow plugs and they were all shot, pretty sure my bad PCB took them out.
New set of glow plugs arrived yesterday and i went ahead and put them in today. 6 of the old ones came out with no issues, one of the old ones was swollen and the tip would not come out ( i had to break it off), the last one sheared by itself leaving the tip stuck (conveniently this was the one...
We had them in the maxxpro mraps and they made me feel nausea fast. Something about the eyes not seeing what the body's motion is feeling. Like bad seasickness, took a couple hours to wear off.
It's a good thing that when the WWII paratroopers in my unit (82nd airborne) jumped into holland for operation market garden, you guys didn't need so much info to answer questions, they would have never been able to save your asses, lol.
