Thanks, NDT!
So, if I understand you correctly, larger amp hour batteries will not put an undue load on the generating system.
I can get some 150 amp hour batteries that require only a slightly larger battery tray (since I have to build the tray anyway, I can make it any size I want, as long...
I'm in the process of upgrading my M37 / M42 to the 100 Amp Generating (alternator / rectifier) System. The instructions specify replacing the 45 amp hour batteries with 100 amp hour batteries.
My question is:
Can I use higher rated amp hour batteries or will that just wear out the alternator...
Well, I got my "kit" 30+ years ago from a guy who is probably long gone from this world. I'm just getting around to installing it because adding my radios and other accessories, I'm going to need the extra amps.
The problem is, the "kit" appears to have come off of a M715 not an M37 / M42. The...
Thanks, Elwood1968! I got the email last night and that is exactly what I was looking for.
Now off to fabricate some parts and tear apart the truck again....
Thanks again!

I have some parts for the 100 Amp Generating System that was installed in some M715 trucks. I received them as M37 parts, which they are not.
I have the 4 grove crankshaft pulley, the 4 grove water pump pulley and both large cables (generator to rectifier and rectifier to regulator).
Is there...
Thanks, Elwood!
It should be the one covering the larger batteries and modifications to the battery box in the M-37 for the 100 Amp system. The title is something like, "Replacement of 45 Amp Hour Batteries with 100 Amp Hour Batteries...."
Thanks again, I'll be looking for it.

Does anyone have a copy of this MWO? I am trying to install the 100 Amp generating system in my M42 Command Truck and I need this MWO to understand how to modify the battery box and tray to accept the larger batteries.
If anyone has a copy, could you please post it or PM me for a direct email...
I've had my M37 for 36 years. It has been a daily driver a couple of times in that period. It is doable; gas these days will bankrupt you (7 to 10 miles a gallon if you are lucky and have it well adjusted; 5 to 7 miles a gallon is more realistic).
The big question is are you going to keep it...
Also, you have to keep in mind your market audience. There are a lot of people willing to buy a truck at $1500 to $3500. They are looking for the best truck that amount of money will buy.
You may have a beautifully restored truck, frame-up, all new or rebuilt everything, and almost every single...
According to the MWO that moved the spare tire from the cargo bed to the door, all M-37's were to be converted by sometime in 1956 (I have the MWO at home, and I'm not). It obviously didn't happen for a number of reasons, I'm sure.
So, if that was the only requirement to make a truck into a B1...
That is a very nice truck with a number of rare and valuable accessories on it. You are very lucky to find such an un-"improved" or "modified" truck. As time goes by the original condition trucks are becoming increasingly rare.
Good Luck with your project! I hope you keep it, and restore it, to...
I would be interested in the 4 groove pulleys for the water pump and the crankshaft. Also, the 3 cables that are part of this system and the fan belts (4 ea.) if they are any good.
Just PM me if you are interested in getting rid of them.
Thanks!
I can't make it this year, Jim. I thought it was always in the Fall, like October. That date is already way over scheduled.
Maybe they will have another one in the Fall.
I can't make it this year, but I will keep it in mind for next year (need a little more notice the calendar is full).
Maybe a group of us could go and get our own little section.
Just a thought.
Rocker Panel Art
Well, mine is from a different war, a different time, but we liked it.
This is the art on a M-42 Battalion Radio Command truck (a M-37 with lots of radios and other add-on kits). It lives inside now so it is kind of hard to get distant pics (very small garage).
First picture...
Thank you, Dr. Porkchop! I don't have change 3 in my manuals.
I would really appreciate that.
I'll PM my direct email address.
Thanks again for your help!

I'm looking for a copy of the MWO referenced in the title that installs the 100 amp generating system in the M-37.
I believe I have all the parts to install this system in my truck, but I discovered that the instructions I have are actually for a deuce, not an M-37.
If anyone has a copy of...
