Wow! It is really coming together nicely, sorry to hear about your pump. Good thing you know how to fix the problem!
I can't wait to see some good daytime pics with the crane in action.
Just curious though, do you have enough room in your front fenders to clear the tires, even when one is fully...
Passenger Side Engine Cover....
I finally had a little extra time and got to fabricate the passenger side engine cover. This was the final missing piece to the engine enclosure and I'm glad it's all done! Now I can move on to more exciting things....lol
Well just as I got done and put up the...
A Maintenace Shelter....
So I had to take a brake from the FEMTT project for a couple of days, to put up the LME (Lightweight Maintenance Enclosure) that I won on GL, a few weeks ago.
I'm very exited, to be a little less dependent on the weather this winter!

Great write up Matt! I really enjoyed visiting with you and Albert....to bad you did not have more time to spend in Chama! Maybe when I come down in January, we can take the "Big Iron" out and do some heavy duty six- and eight-wheeling.....

Well lets see, I would drive it on to the big steel pan that we used for moving the La Junta locomotive. I would then chain one side of the FEMTT down to the pan, leaving a little slack in the chains. With the crane, I would lift up the side of the pan that has the chains running to the FEMTT...
Painting......oh and more PAINTING....
I spent the morning degreasing and pressure washing the FEMTT. Then, after a period of drying, the dreaded 16.00-R20 tire removal.....
Darn, I forgot how much work it is to paint the frame and rear suspension.....there are just a gazillion nooks and...
Mine did that whenever it was cold. I would let the truck warm up for a while and it would miraculously start working again. Try to let it warm up for a while with the air charge button pushed in on the side of the shift selector box.

Rear Mud Flaps and Frame Coverings....
I have to go back to the job site down by the Monestary on Sunday, so I decided to be legal and install a pair of rear mud flaps. I already had a set of the "appropriate" Oshkosh mud flaps in stock, so I only had to order a set of the coil spring type...
Thanks! I'm glad your trip went well....I bet you guys were glad to be back in your warm and cozy 'desert oasis' though......you both looked pretty cold and miserable.....Lol

I was trying to stay within the same silouette as the HEMTT, but it ended up being 3" taller. Now that is measured to the roof line of the cab. On the HEMTT the spare tire sticks up another 11", which makes it 112" tall.
My measurement on the FEMTT does not include the spare tire davit since...
Turn Signals
Today I just worked on a bunch of little things that needed done or finished, so I really do not feel like I accomplished much......
Well, at least I got the auxillary "Yankee" turn signals installed and hooked up. I think they are going to be very helpfull in traffic....

In Good Company.....
Well....no progress to report on the FEMTT today, but a friend of mine and I took our "little" MVs out for a sunset cruise around Chama....hmmm, I guess somtimes you just have take a break and go play.... [thumbzup]
Btw....so much for HETs have no articullation on their...
Awesome! Thank's for the great tip Hammer....these will work much better then the ones that I was going to use!
Now I have to start saving for them.....lol
