    Brutus Coast to Coast

It has been a fun day, conversations at pit stops, acting as a speed bump going up hills and wonderful temps. Made about 300 miles in just under 9 hours including stops. I pulled off down the offramp to Jessup Nv. Brutus is running well and I'm feeling pretty good. Going to get up nice and early...

    Brutus Coast to Coast

Chugged my way up to Donner Summit. Did a lot of driving at 20 mph. 980-1000*on the EGT, 6lbs of boost and 2000 rpm got me up the worst of the hills. Water temp got up to about 185*. So far all seems to be working as advertised. I stopped at the summit to look things over and let everything cool...

    Brutus Coast to Coast

Well my last trip ended sooner than expected but will be trying again. Got all kinds of stuff done to include a new transmission. I am feeling carefully optimistic that after all the work I should be able to make it to Ft Bragg NC by September 6. Tomorrow I will be leaving California Via 80 to...

Its Alive..... Got the transmission today, had to chase it all over northern California but we ended up with it a day before the scheduled delivery date. Got it installed and everything buttoned up. Took it for a short test run this evening and everything seems to be in order. Will do a longer...

having to wait on the transmission kinda turned out to be a good thing. It pushed us to do a lot of projects we would have otherwise pushed off till later. The ladder came from an RV shop up in Alaska. It is meant for a drop in camper for a pickup bed. they make them in a bunch of different...

Here is a picture of the box closed up with my ladder folded ready for the road. Got the brakes all done today. Man they feel so much better now. The master cylinder when in with a remote reservoir kit. To be honest bleeding brakes is probably the job that I despise more than about anything...

sigo, hadn't thought about it being from the Marines. I haven't found any evidence of other desert colors. The layers are red primer, dark green, tan, white/orange and a top coat of black. Forgot to mention, a few days ago when I pulled the master cylinder I decided to pull the air pack to see...

Thanks tommy, Still hoping the transmission shows on time. yesterday.... When I bought the truck the in tank fuel pump was bypassed and had an external 24 volt pump coming out of the drain in the bottom of the tank. This is the pump that failed in Canada. On a whim I hooked up the in tank pump...

The good - Got the air tanks relocated. This is the new location in-between the frame rails just in front of the tow pintle. far more protected than their previous location. Originally the air tanks were mounted under this fuel tank. The tank and the mounting bracket in front of it will be...

Ah I see what you mean now. That is a lot cheaper than replacing the the Air Pack. Thank you for the quick info. Kinda confused why the vent would have been capped off.

The fluid spraying out was from the master cylinder and not from the air pack it self? The air pack doesn't need to be vented?

I got quite lucky with my wife, but having a real love hate relationship with my Deuce. Made it back to California and today got to do some wrenching..... Pulled the transmission and tore it apart with the intent of rebuilding it. found missing teeth on the 1st/reverse gear, 5th was badly...

    New to M35A2, first purchase

Other than tools and spare parts giving yourself plenty of time for the trip is very important. These aren't quick trucks and they make a lot of different sounds. When I brought mine home I made a lot of stops because I would hear a new sound and didn't know if it was something bad or just the...

The "While you're in there thread"

My humble recommendation if you have any question about the input leaking, then while you have it apart replace the input bearing and housing on the transmission. It is fairly inexpensive and doing it now sure beats pulling everything again later.
