    Disabling your deuce

Thanks Don, I'd already installed the one suggested, but I thought a determined perp could bypass it, which was why I was going to REMOVE the batteries for the vacation's duration and store them out of sight.

    Disabling your deuce

With the recent rash of theft threads, if you were going to go on a vacation where you wouldn't be able to keep an eye on your MV, what would you do to it to make sure it remains in your possession? Locking the 'chain' it comes with on the steering wheel, obviously. I've seen suggestions of...

    Exporting entire thred

DH, does this mean you don't want a printed copy of any thread or data coming off the site? I have no plan or intention of posting any of it elsewhere; my sole intention is to have a personal printed copy of data in a thread here for personal referral only.

    Exporting entire thred

Is there a way to export an entire thread from here to have in a printed form? A search for export thread or print thread doesn't seem to turn up anything useful. Going to Thread tools> Show Printable version only appears to give an option to "Show 40 post(s) from this thread on one page" I'm...

    AAA for a CUCV? (IN)

At least up here, you have to have plates and insurance on something for them to tow. I have AAA Plus, and once my M1009 was registered, they flatbedded it right to my door for $0...although it was from a private sale. My guess is they'd find a way to not cover you towing off a base. If you...

Advantage of a CUCV over Civilian truck

Owning an M109 has it's place, but having owned a civvy blazer of the same age, the 1009 makes me smile every time I drive it, so the noise/comfort/smoke/lack of AC just doesn't even register. The 1009's short wheel base makes it a good wheeler. low range is your friend with 3.08's...

    ATF in M35A3 CAT 3116

well ****, even with only 1200 miles on it, my A3's 3116 starts hard when it's cold out with the ULSD crap that they call pump diesel up here, so mixing 50/50 sounds pretty dang good

since you are in FL, can you be a little more specific about 'cold out'?

    M1009 U-joints & seal, bushing too?

The auto parts store says there is a bushing and seal kit for the '208 transfer case. Anyone ever pull one? They wanted over 100 bucks for a slide hammer kit to pull it out. For the $, it makes more sense to pay someone to change it :( I've got the shaft off, about to go and change the...

    CUCV name suggestion

I call mine little 9, because even though it has an extra 0 in it's model number, it is small next to the M109 parked next to it

    Massachusetts registration & insurance

this is why my m109 shop van is registered as an RV, and why I bought the 109 instead of an M35 with a standard bed. That, and the shop van body is very cool looking :) The RV lobby has seen fit to make sure registration costs are far lower as well.....even for a vehicle which tipped 15,325 on...

    Massachusetts registration & insurance

Thank you for sharing your perspective. The regulatory environment in MA is difficult for this hobby on a good day. Out of curiosity, do those rules apply to vehicles registered as RV's as well? Many have 5 or more wheels on the ground, and many have air assist brakes.....

    M1009 U-joints & seal, bushing too?

The previous owner put several thousand miles on the truck since it was in a GHell Lot, so I hope they didn't drive it that long with a bent shaft!

    M1009 U-joints & seal, bushing too?

My new-to-me M1009 has a driveline vibration and transfer case leak which led me to verify failed driveshaft u-joints, and it looks like the last owner drove with bad the bad u-joints for a while, which took out the seal on the transfer case. I guess the question is, if I'm swapping the joints...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

My 1009 got shiny new legal license plates from the DMV in MA yesterday. Now I need a horn, marker light bulbs, and a pass side mirror to get road-legal. Then I need u-joints and probably a TC bushing and seal to get road-WORTHY. anyone have tips or experience on changing that seal and bushing?
