Learning more every day. My truck does not have the thermostat by-pass as shown in the manuals. Were these eliminated with an MWO or did a previous owner eliminate it? My engine has a depot rebuild tag on it so maybe removed? I don't know if I should try to find the parts and put it back or...
Problem Found
Tried to take out the core of the new cable to lube it and it won't come out. Decided to take a longer drive and maybe the lube in there will loosen up. I left the cable hang under the dash. I heard it clicking right at the connector as I drove so I lifted it up and the clicking...
I don't like it but that's where the Army put them when a shelter was mounted. It's a royal pain. I think all the B1 models were there. I never understood why not put the spare on the passenger side as you always had a driver but not always a passenger.
Final details added today so I’m now 99% completed. The truck was moved to its reserved slot in the pole barn today, ready for duty. The AN/GRC-46 shelter will be mounted as soon as possible. Thanks to Midwest Military, Vintage Power Wagons, AB Linn, Delta Team Decals, Bolt Depot, Saturn...
Restoration is now 99% complete. While the truck was apart we put a NEW speedometer cable in as mentioned earlier in this thread. Last week I drove it out my 1/2 mile lane and the speedometer was still bouncing all over the place. So, put in a NEW speedometer and the same thing. Nothing left...
Can someone send me a picture of the blackout stop light as well as the mount and mounting location? My truck did not have one and as I near restoration completion, I want to add one. The wiring is there now with the new harness. I think there were several "vintages" so either will work. Thanks!!
I've been assembling the cab and forward over the winter. The parts were stripped and painted during the warm weather last year. I still need to paint the bolts as you can see in the pictures. When I did my M-715, I painted the bolts first but installing them after painting scratchen the...
Reassembly
Beginning assembly and since I have no reference I am wondering how the fender welting goes in. Looks like the piece on the fender is one way and the engine compartment filler plate it goes another. In other words, one is upside down from the other. Also, where does one end and the...
Well, we are now putting the doors back together. I tried pushing the new clips on with my fingers with no luck. So, two pair of vise grips to hold the regulator arms tight against the window frame "slots". Started them with my fingers and used a drift to tap them on. PRESTO!! What helps is...
S-89's are quite hard to find as they were phased out early. S-144, same size and era, are more common. I will have another S-144 for sale next year but it's fully loaded with an AN/GRC-46 RATT rig.
Still re-assembling the truck but eventually one of my restored AN/GRC-46's will be put on the M-37. I’ve been looking for stock shelter tie-down cables for some time but no success. There were a few methods of shelter security used over the years but I focused on the type I was most familiar...
