As mentioned on my other post today, the truck is comming apart faster now. But, I am wondering if I should paint the fenders before re-assembly? My thought is to media blast and prime and then wait till assembly to paint. Looks like the factory did that as you can see in the pictures the old...
I've been taking the truck apart little by little but now we are in full production. Parts lots are plastic media blasted, epoxy primed and painted. When the paint is dry on that batch, I put them away in our unused old farm house and then take more of the truck apart. Repeat process!! A few...
Now I wonder what that looked like. There is none there now and nothing in the parts "exploded" views. So a strip from the rear of the fender to the rear splash pan I guess to keep water out. Probably did not last too long down there. Not sure what I will do when I put it all back together.
Took the front end apart yesterday as part of the restoration. The fenders and pans will be media blasted, as well as all the rest of the truck. On the fenders at the rear splash pans is a row of split rivets holding nothing. Must have been a weather strip in there at one time? You can see them...
Army Heritage Days are at the Carlisle, PA AHM near the War College. They are accepting applications for military vehicles for display during the 2 day event May 19-20. Vheicles must be stock with military markings and color. No customized trucks. Register at; The U.S. Army Heritage and...
I had the same problem with him. Took 6 months to finally have him contact me and make the 101A1 plates. When he did finally make them, they are nice. I don't understand why so many sellers spend big bucks advertizing and won't return calls or e-mails.
Not a B1 but the PO converted it to that specification he tells me. It had the spare on the drivers door. Interesting since I only noticed this after it was taken apart, including the spare and carrier on the door. Guess I'll wait till its put back together and see what happens. Thanks!!
Moved the mostly dissambled M-37 to my larger shop for more room to work. Standing way back I saw it leans right. Measured the frame to the floor and it's 1-3/4" lower on the passenger side rear. Springs bad or is this a "quirck" of the trucks?
Another question answered!
Before I saw this post, I dug the seats out of my storage building early today, to see what all I had. When the truck arrived, all this stuff was thrown in the bed and I just put it all away without looking at it. Today, I noticed one seat was shorter and took...
S-144
You can see the proper AN/GRC-46 RTTY shelter at my web site. About Rattrig.com They all took the 100 amp generator. The shelters were either the S-89 or the S-144. The S-250 is larger was for later trucks like the M-715 and the CCUV's.
I based the 1/2" on small remnants that were attached to the seat bottom brackets but of course, they were rotted so no telling what they were. No problem routing the edges in a nice curve and I did notice that. Thanks again and I'll gather some wood for the project.
The truck is now apart and waiting for warmer weather so I can blast, prime and paint with a reliable 60 degrees and above. While I wait, I dug out the metal seat parts that came with the truck. Figure I'll get the wood cut awhile. I know what the pieces are, as shown in the picture, but since I...
Got a complete set of harnesses from Vintage Wiring also. I opted for all packard connectors since I am doing a total rebuild. Douglas guages, lights and senders are now scarce.
I agree. They were used on many vehicles and were available from auto parts stores on the "small parts" rack. I think the number is SC3314 instead of 3315? 3314 may also work, just a different way to clip on.
I have 3 left from my M-715 project. Need at least one more. They were common at the auto parts places like NAPA but no more. They were used in many older vehicles, not just MV's. I took a new one to NAPA and you always get the same response "year, make, model" please!
Memphis has them and...
Thanks!! I took the vent out today and the hinges were very rusty and would not move much. It would not open at all when I first tried last week but I did manage to open it as in the picture. Now, the hinges are free after lots of PB blaster and WD-40. The pawl that latches the handle is...
