8 weeks and still no insurance!

I read through lots of insurance threads when I realized it wasnt going to do me much good to keep reading so I started calling. I have a horrile driving record and pay more for insurance than most people pay for a car payment. I know he isnt trying to insure a deuce BUT geico commercial seemed...

    Mandatory Deuce tools

I just want to comment on the fact that the smaller the rating, the smaller the stand. I have always bought the physically biggest ones I can find. You dont want a small stand set all the way in the air if you can help it. Mine are pretty big. And I bought them for working on volkswagens. Go big...

    My Favorite Toy!!!

Mmm. Maybe I am wrong. I just assumed the stock oil pressure gauge was mecanical. Sure acts like one. But i have never actually looked at the back of it. I have only made myself familiar with the actual broken bits of my truck do far. Either way my oil pressure gauge is almost worthless.

A mini m37 body would be quite charming on that quad. Just make sure to hammer it out of steel! No way you can have a fiberglass m37

    My Favorite Toy!!!

Boy I cant wait until I can afford a few more of those gauges... I really dont have much faith in my oil pressure gauges that I have to tap on several times per minute and quicky do the math in my head to average the random readings. Silly mechanical gauges, most reliable my @ss.

Oil in the bearings: Opinions wanted.

Keep me posted on how it works out. I am very curious... My theory is still that the inner seals leak as soon as enough oil leaks in through the outter seal and pools up in the bearings enough to leak out the back. But trust me I would be elated to be wrong.

Oil in the bearings: Opinions wanted.

I love high temp red grease. But I have never used a bearing packer that worked at least well enough to trust it. But like you said, finish them by hand. On a side note. I ran out of grease and had to buy a new tub at schucks or whatever they are now and the only brand they had was CRC. They...

Oil in the bearings: Opinions wanted.

Too bad the question wasnt "they have tools for that now, that actualy work?!?"

Oil in the bearings: Opinions wanted.

But on the inner seal of a deuce the part of the seal that "seals" to the axle portion is just a metal ring that presses onto the the axle. And its not really a press fit it in most terms would be considered a loose fit. And this is the part of the seal that would constantly be submerged with...

Oil in the bearings: Opinions wanted.

Most seals drive into the hub and the rubber seals on the axle housing I can't see this seal sealing anything besides some dust and stopping tons of water pouring in but couldn't possibly stop gear lube from dripping out slowly even without any pressure. Am I seriously messed up in my thinking?

Oil in the bearings: Opinions wanted.

I was just looking into this. It seems as if no one has actually found a way to keep oil in. I found a neat drawing of a way to do it. But so far nobody that has done it. I will keep searching.

Oil in the bearings: Opinions wanted.

You seem far more experianced than I. But I would be real nervous about leaving out the seal and oil bathing these bearings. It sure seems like the (very) small amount of oil that would be just sitting there, not flowing through, on a long straight stretch of highway might not be suffecient. How...
