Update. I have now seen a photo of the vehicle's VIN tag.
MFR'S. SERIAL NUMBER is ****** (6-digit numeric - I don't want to give out the actual numbers)
REGISTRATION NUMBER appears to be NG3H8F (may be NG3H8F)
NATIONAL STOCK NUMBER is 2320-01-146-7193
Can anyone confirm if this seems...
Okay guys. Thank you very much for the replies.
Now here's a question. This truck has an 11-digit VIN recorded on the title. I have not yet seen a photograph of the actual VIN on the vehicle.
Since this is not my truck, I do not want to list the guy's entire VIN. But it appears to be a...
I need help from the community. I'm looking into Humvee info to help out the guys in MI who are having troubles, as written about under the Legislative forum.
Here's the question: For those of you with a 1990 AM General HMMWV 998, how many digits are in the VIN?
"Standard" VIN's have 17...
Bob,
Seems that some folks are already moving on this. I'll forward the link of this thread to the fellow I talked with last night. I'm also going to pm you his contact info. Good to see you fellows are on this early.

From my perspective, FL ceasing to issue title would have the opposite effect. It's a difficult matter to administer, given the disparity between practices in the various states' DMVs.
At least in Wisconsin, off-road vehicles like mini-bikes, go-karts, ATV's and UTV's do not get a Motor...
Speakin' as an out-of-stater, as it were, my knowledge is not Florida-based. But I think you guys are correct and wise to be worried about a change which would eliminate titles, if that's what's happening.
Titles denote ownership of the vehicle. They have nothing to do with registration and...
I will toss in this afterthought. There may well be something that MVPA could do to help the individual state groups trying to defend our rights.
The national MVPA could provide a toolkit of relevant documents, laws, and court decisions which could be used to promote our cause in individual...
The fight over former military vehicles started years ago in Wisconsin. I got dragged into it in 2007. Tom Zat, Curt Rymkus and I are still at it. So far, we've won three appeals and have gotten passage of 3 bills into law. We didn't do it alone, and owe a lot of thanks to all the in-state...
DUKW Accident in Seattle - what effect on the hobby?
Just FYI - http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/ride-the-ducks-vehicle-collides-with-bus-on-aurora-bridge/
Tragic news from Seattle. 4 dead in DUKW v. bus accident. The company reports several recent accidents. We all need to be extra...
Like Swiss, I also believe you should get the department's refusal in writing with the applicable statute identified.
I urge you to also read the court decision and MIL-SPEC document. They are relevant.
From the Kasberger Case:
After the...
Georgie,
Sorry to hear of this. You may have the most expedient way of solving the problem, but it will be effecting others too. Have you contacted your state legislators yet?
The US Constitution REQUIRES each individual state to recognize deeds and licenses and such from other states. That's...
Neil,
Sorry I missed you there. I got in around noon Friday, but it wasn't very conducive to walking around. If you noticed the big 105mm gun up by the truck row, that's my buddy Tom's and that was where I spent a lot of time. Thanks for the pictures!
MWMules,
Thanks for taking some pics...
If you own a farm and do farming, then you can register a former military vehicle as a Farm truck. You likely do not need that CDL if you stay under 26k#, unless you use it otherwise commercially. Regardless of what (someone at) DMV told you, I don't know about vacations. Here's what their web...
It wasn't an oversight at all. This guy's got a bigger problem than just wanting to drive his halftrack.
Vehicles which do not drive entirely on inflated rubber tires were previously prohibited in Wisconsin. (Kansas should feel darn lucky!) It seemed self-defeating to try and change that...
Driving a deuce and not hauling anything is just joyriding. :tank: Fine if that's how you want to spend your time.
Look, if something is not prohibited, then it is allowed. Nothing under the HMV registration statute/s prohibit hauling a load. That doesn't negate any other laws that apply...
I'm not certain, but I think where some of the state to state consistency may stem from is US/DOT Motor Carrier rules for larger and commercial trucks.
As far as Wis. statute goes, there is no payload restriction against HMV plated trucks in Wis. (as there is against vehicles plated as...
Registration is the responsibility of the state. Each state has different laws to administer, so what works in one state may or may not work in another.
FYI, a 26,000gvw Annual Heavy Truck Farm plate costs $118.75 http://dot.wi.gov/drivers/docs/bvs507-a.pdf
