Recovry4x4,
You really have to ask Florida DOT about your registration questions. Registration is the responsibility of the state, so individual states may vary. In general, states will issue registration if you have a title, and the SF-97 gets you a title.
The MIL-STD 1180B was dated 1986...
The Georgia Senate is the upper house, so yes, typically the lower house looks to the upper for some guidance. It's also a good sign that it was a unanimous vote. Will it seal the deal? - not necessarily, but it helps.
Swiss,
Huge kudos you and the other guys who have helped so much...
Bears v. Outlaws
Unless it's a legal bear, in which case just walking quietly around him still makes you an outlaw. Bears seem to like to mess with outlaws. Zout's right, the bear was already poked, and now he's looking for the outlaws. Unless you actually believe that driving an illegal...
Swiss,
Great job getting this to a vote.
TO ALL GEORGIA MEMBERS,
Step up and contact your Senator! A phone call is best, as it really shows you care. A letter works ok, but an email often gets lost in the flood. Phone calls carry the most weight politically.
Be sure to tell them to...
Bet on it. You can be dam* sure that the DOT involved is reading your comments, especially if it's a fight. Act accordingly. If you want it kept private, don't post on a forum. If you don't want a record, make it verbal.
Best not to be too insulting or confrontational, nor to give up your...
Tom and I have prepared a handout for owners, to give an overview of how Wis. Lifetime Registration laws effect things. It is written to reflect the law that will take effect on Mar. 1, 2014. It has not yet been reviewed nor approved by WisDOT, but we simply summarized Wisconsin Statutes and...
The effective date is Mar. 1, 2014.
Sorry, I should have posted that here. (First day of the third month following the signing, not counting the month of the signing.)
JP,
Ouch. Sorry to hear about your truck. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Paul
Signed into law by Gov. Walker yesterday!! Tom and I attended. Major victory for all owners and collectors.
Many thanks to Sen. Glenn Grothman and Assy. Rep. Steve Kestell for their sponsorship.
Many more thanks to those of you who helped push for passage of this law.
State reciprocity laws allow a vehicle registered in one state to drive in all other US states. You'll have no problems here.
This is one of the inequitable issues which we raised here in Wis.: If someone from another US state can legally drive their registered ex-military truck in Wisconsin...
I just noticed this thread. Nice job accumulating stories about uses for the vehicles.
A couple thoughts to add, based on the crap we had to go through here in Wis.
Due to state's reciprocity agreements, people from other U.S. states can legally drive their former military vehicles in...
Sorry for the delay here. My hard-drive crashed last Wed. (the day after the vote!), and I just got things resolved. Thank God for my brother!
This bill passed the vote before the full Assembly last Tuesday, clearing the way for it to be signed into law by the Governor. fat lady sings
It...
This continues to move ahead. We're scheduled for a vote before the Assembly next Tuesday, Oct 15.
Assuming we get passed, we just need Gov. Walker's signature.
Way to go everybody!! Call your Assy. Rep. and urge them to vote In Favor.
Passed!! By the full Wis. Senate vote. Report here, under S.B.110 http://insession.legis.wisconsin.gov/senate
Next step is a full Assembly vote, then we just need Gov. Walker's signature.
Thanks to everybody for your help.
Today, the Senate Transportation Committee voted 5-0 In Favor of our bill.
This means we have gotten the unanimous approval of the Transportation Committees in both houses, the Senate and the Assembly. The next step is a floor vote before the full Senate and the full Assembly. If they both...
Trukhead,
Well, as much as I hate to discourage public participation, at this point I think we should remain silent.
I've been told that at least one of the five members of the Sen. Trans. Comm. does not like to be barraged with calls, and I'm comfortable that the committee is behind our bill...
Our bill is scheduled for a vote in the Senate Transportation Committee on Thursday, Sept. 5!
This will allow it to move towards a vote in the full Senate.
It continues...
