Post #14 shows a pic with the drivers wheel/tire lying in the grass below the truck, if I'm not mistaken. The passenger's side tire appears to be still attached and behind the bridge rail.
UPDATE!!!
Today the Assembly Transportation Committee passed this bill by a unanimous vote. This is a huge step!
The bill now moves toward a vote in the full Assembly, and must still be approved by the Senate before it goes to the Governor for a signature.
Stay tuned for further...
I FULLY AGREE. This is what I wrote previously:
Titling is a federal issue, but registration is the responsibility of each individual state.
You're right, they do not have to acknowledge any other state. BUT, sometimes courts will consider prior court decisions, especially so if it's a...
Also FYI, Here's a link to the Wisconsin Dept. of Admin. Div. of Hearings and Appeals case over the Chevrolet Blazer, during which the MILSPEC document won the argument. It's a notice that the case is being reopened. http://dha.state.wi.us/home/Decisions/DOT/2011/110016rhg.pdf
It was...
Zout,
I just noticed where this thread seemed to be going. It sounds as if you are running into the same situation we did in Wisconsin: that former military vehicles are considered to not meet FMVSS, and are therefore not able to be registered.
A couple thoughts for you. In our fight, one of...
Update on the ongoing legislation:
We are anticipating a vote in the Senate Trans. Comm. within the month. Following that, the full houses (Senate and Assy.) will reconvene in mid Sept. We are optimistic about a full house vote late in September.
Stay tuned...
VenomInjected,
You are CORRECT, that an M1008 CAN BE REGISTERED with Light Truck C plates in Wisconsin once again. You have your choice of applicable plates: Light Truck, Farm, Collector, Hobbyist, etc. (You have to own a farm for Farm plates, vehicle must be over 20 years old for...
Happened near here yesterday. Humvee and (what I believe to be) an Oshkosh were involved.
Story with photos: http://gazettextra.com/photos/2013/jun/27/61560/
Sounds like it's active duty equipment. I'm thankful it's not a civilian-owned vehicle, or there'd be a poop-storm over it here. Goes...
Bump to top.
This is the most current thread about legislation in Wis., and I want it to be the first one people see.
Word last week is that votes on the bill will likely not occur until Sept. That's politics. We're disappointed, but undeterred. Stay tuned.
Ummm. This thread is rather old. I'm not sure why it got brought up again. Here's a link to the most current thread as of 6/10/13: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?104453-Good-Change-Coming-In-Wisconsin
Please read that thread for more current info, and if you've still got any...
Update: The Assy. Hearing went well. Tom and I testified, and nobody else spoke against us. We're now waiting semi-patiently for the Transportation Committees to vote on the bill. Thanks to everybody who registered in favor of the bill on our online signup (now closed).
I'll let you know...
This continues to move ahead. There is now a Public Hearing before the Assembly Transportation Committee scheduled for Tues. May 21 at 1pm in the State Capitol Rm. 417N.
See you there!
621 citizens registered In Favor of the bill. A "really popular" bill is lucky to get 100-150 citizens In Favor. Our total was described as "mind blowing", by the authoring Senator's office.
There are 5 members of the Senate Transportation Committee who will vote on the bill.
It still...
The Hearing today went very well. 621 "In Favor", 1 "Against". I guess ya can't win 'em all. We expect to hear results of the Senate Trans. Comm. vote next week some time, and I'll post 'em.
Things are moving, slowly but steadily. Here's the important news:
BILL NUMBER
Today the bill was assigned it's Assembly Bill number: AB-157. As I wrote previously, it already got a Senate Bill number: SB-110.
In all correspondence with your Senator and/or Assembly Rep. be sure you refer...
Hearing delayed
The Public Hearing that was tentatively scheduled for this Thursday has been delayed until next week. I'll add info asap when we get a new date.
This gives us another week for people to register IN FAVOR of the bill (link above). Please keep spreading the word.
