I've just retired after 30 years in the business of engineering and manufacturing rubber components. I'm looking for something to do. I like MV's and I like working with rubber. Replacement track pads would be right up my alley.
Questions:
(1) Are replacement track pads for the commonly...
Silicone rubber has three redeeming qualities:
-- It stays flexible at temperatures much lower than other types of rubber.
-- It can handle up to +400 deg F.
-- Sunlight (UV), oxygen and ozone do not degrade it.
The downsides to silicone rubber are:
-- Low strength - it cuts, abrades and...
You might check out the Federal Standard 595 Color Server at:
FED STD 595 Federal Standard 595 Color Server
In the upper left click on "browse by color" or "browse by fan deck". You can select up to four colors and compare them side to side.
It contains more FedGov colors than you can...
Probably not.
Tubes leak, tires blowout.
The previous poster is correct. Rubber is organic and it degrades/decays even when the vehicle is parked.
Keep your tires aired up to spec. Low tires have more rolling resistance. More rolling resistance means more heat buildup in the tire. Heat...
During my truck stop pump jockey days in the 70's, on a -15 F day the #2 fuel gelled in the pumps. The #1 Diesel was still pumping, until we ran out.
Lot of trucks stalled on Rte 66 and in the parking lot that day.
These days I think the suppliers do a much better job providing a good winter...
From the linked website:

The following description applies to the 1-pdr, 3-pdr and 6-pdr guns which were widely used during the 1880s-1900s:
The 1, 3 and 6-pdr guns of the "New Navy" corresponded to certain calibers, respectively 37 mm (1.46"), 47 mm (1.85") and 57 mm (2.24")...
Nice find.
Looks like a US naval 57mm (6 pdr) deck gun.
Check out this link - info/specs/photos:

I appreciate the excellent info, particularly the "open in a new window" suggestion.
Bought a M1009 in October. It has several instrument panel problems. The work I've done so far leads me to believe dirty contacts may be the root cause at least some. e.g. idiot light not working - remove...
I worked at Caterpillar for 30 years - my area of expertise was engineering and manufacturing of rubber parts.
Unless its a rubber part intended to come in contact with petroleum oil or grease (seals and o-rings) do NOT use petroleum based lubes on rubber parts especially things like...

We arrived back in the flatlands today. It sure is colder with more snow here than it was in Canon City.
We enjoyed meeting you and your family. I'm glad the racks & bows will be put to good use.
Best regards
Jim
The owner does not need to justify his rules to me. I am here voluntarily and will abide by the rules.
What I've been trying to do is get members to say why this makes sense rather than just getting chesty with me saying "thems the rules so shut the h*** up".
This happens on most discussion...
Generic aftermarket units are available. Had one on vehicle 10 years ago. Think it ran off a magnetic pickup added to the driveshaft or some such.
Control consisted of an on/off rocker switch mounted on the dash and a kill switch hooked thru the brake light switch..
Worked fine.

Quite possible that the market for MV's is a whole lot smaller than ebay items.
Nope - A lot of stuff on ebay is much scarcer than what is sold by the govt.
They are the rules of this site, so if I want to post here I have to obey the rules or find another place to play.
Translation: "I...

I understand your rationale. However, I do not believe people bump the proxy bid of a stranger just to force the price higher - unless actual bid rigging is taking place. I suspect that is where many of the "item relisted due to non-paying buyer" stuff comes from - the real buyer quit...
I suspect that using a large diameter fender washer, say 1.5 inch with thru bolts would provide plenty of support. Alternatively you could use two strips of 1 or 1.5" wide by 1/8" thick steel or aluminum strips, one for the top two holes and one for the bottom two holes.
Drill two holes in...
