    M37 - NDTs or NDCCs?

There is a rediculous notion out there that there were no NDT's produced after WWII. I never made that claim. I suspect the govt kept buying NDT tires until the tire molds wore out and had to be replaced. When new molds were purchased, they were the NDCC. At some point the NDT design was...

    M37 - NDTs or NDCCs?

I think this discussion may be the result of (1) the definitions of NDCC and NDT tread designs, and (2) how tires were marked by the manufacturer. The current version (dated Sept 2000) of TM 9-2610-20-14 does not reference the square shouldered NDT design. It does reference the NDCC design. I...

    Road Report

Ignition timing. PO put P/S on it and the pump sorta hides the reference scale, remove belt, push pump out of the way, count your knuckles after using timing gun and enjoy the results. Leave the P/S gear in place and the timing light in the shop. It can be adjusted by "feel". Just advance...

In need of a brake combination valve

The GM part number trail ends at p/n 1257200. GM no longer stocks it. NAPA and OReilly do not have it. Found a viable source for this and a lot of obsolete brake parts: Inline Tube - Preformed Stainless & OEM Brake Line Sets Company called Inline Tube out of Michigan. Per Mark in tech...

    M37 - NDTs or NDCCs?

I disagree with some other opinions here. The NDT design is square shouldered and was phased out after WW2. The NDCC has rounded shoulders and is correct for post WW2 vehicles including the M37 and M101 and M101A1. New production 9:00 x 16 NDCC tires have been available from specialty...

    FS-595 Sage Green?

In the 60's and 70's Air Force flight suits, parachute packs/harness and other items were commonly "sage green" in color (blue/gray/green like sagebrush). Don't know this color was used for vehicles or aircraft. Is there a Fed Std 595 code for "sage green"? Regards Jim

    Rubber/plastics people

Bjorn For cutting rubber we used an Olfa brand razor knife (type with snap-off blades). Rubber dulls edges fast so it's necessary to change blades often. Dull blade = high force to cut = rubber deforms under cutting pressure = final surface not flat/square. Single edge razor blades work...

    Rubber/plastics people

Bjorn It's probably rubber rather than plastic. The indentations are likely due to permanent "set". Permanent is the operative word - heat or solvents/chemicals will not restore it to original dimensions. Rubber is hard to machine because cutting tool pressure deforms the rubber during the...

QUESTION: 6.2L Fuel Filter Base O-Rings

I want to replace the o-rings on the vent plug and drain plug on my 6.2L filter base (reference -20 TM, Sect. 3-17, item #5). Searching here found several references to replacing these but no mention of the correct size. I spent the last few years at CAT working o-ring problems. I ain't right...

If you can find an outfit that does "dry ice" blasting give them a try. Link to Cryoblast: http://www.cryo-blast.com/ I've seen a couple of demos of this system where I worked. Same principle as sand blasting but they use rice grain sized pellets of dry ice. This was developed to strip...

LENGTH = 96" MAX WIDTH = 65.5" BETWEEN WHL WELLS = 45" DEPTH = 18" This is from an M101A1 but I believe the boxes are identical. My TM 9-2330-202-14P dated 24 August 1962, page 4. section 4.b. has a typo - it states the inside length is 76 inches. A sheet of plywood will just fit (over the...

    stencil meaning?

M1009 with reg.# stenciled on dash and inside of both doors. The "number" is NFOLGY. Wish it had been a 'U' rather than an 'N'. Could have claimed the truck came from Area 51. Regards Jim

    stencil meaning?

Open the driver's door and check the data plates. There should be a "registration number" which is a bunch of letters. Sould correspond to the numbers stenciled in the cabin. Guess the mfg's VIN was not good enough for the govt. Regards Jim
