Ive been looking at these m35a3 trucks that come up at GL and just cant warm up to that goofy hood that slopes backwards towards the cab.....reminds me of the old Ford pickups I had - that used to bend the frames
Question: has anyone ever tried to make them look more "normal" - by lifting up...
sprayed in bedliners are sometimes 3/8" or more thick - maybe that and multi coats of paint and dirt and/or different tires/rims could account for difference...besides who says the govt is EXACT...probably what designed to be - the manufacturer may have substituted a thicker / heavier something...
Here in Buffalo - snowmobiles are big ....we used to spend a fortune on Arctic Cat aluminum belly pans- replacing one a year ---until we had a collision shop use a good pan to make a mould and then hand laid up fiberglass pans for a group of us guys who rode extra hard ----outside was gel...
get some fiberglass cloth and resin /hardener - like for a boat repair
a layer or two on the inside will seal up the holes - then you can blast off the outside rust with sand or baking soda
just make sure the metal is straightened out best you can get it - because once the fiberglass dries -...
what wuld be nice is if they would get bidders pre- approved to bid - so the EUC process delay could be eliminated------would help in planning the recovery and minimize "U pick it" time by thieves......so we would get what we bid on.....
as it is - the EUC clears and you have 10 days....well...
I think theyre properly called "decking saddles" for anyone who wants to google addl info....there appears to be 2 kinds - the fifth wheel plug in and one that bolts to the frame of the tow tractor w/o a 5th wheel -and swivels like a tow dolly
OK - found this online...obviously upside down - the 5th wheel pin goes in the tow tractors 5th wheel - I assume the towed trucks axle goes in the channel and the crossbolts hold it from jumping out..... the chains must get hooked on the ends of the axle - inside the spindles to lock it in...
what are those piggy back devices called that new truck transporters bolt to the front axle of towed truck - that have 5th wheel pin that mounts into the tow tractors 5th wheel?......this puts weight on the towing tractor and seems pretty safe - in my view Id be more comfortable with this than a...
yeah Maddawg....Ive always thought that too about the trucks......One would think that DRMO would know exactly how many hrs and miles are on things and be required under federal law that governs vehicle sales to disclose proper miles or sell TMU
no military vehicle information should be...
CCC is who assembled the trucks - if you look at the late 70s - eary 80s freightliner and internationals - there are styling cues that push one ...one way or the other to guess who the govt contracted with......
ANYONE who ones these trucks - any thing to contribute?
does anyone know for sure WHAT manufacturer supplied the cabs for the 916/920 trucks before the newer Freightliners?...Ive heard both international and freightliner mentioned
I thought that Soni posted a while back that his 7 speed was a HD4070...maybe the trucks have both versions
I kind of remember Soni saying the tranny was around $40k new
where are these trucks coming from with the double overdrive trannys?....havent seen them on GL
