3,000 is about a 100rpm higher than the engine will normally rev. I'd get that checked. 2,700 is the max rpm according to tech data and it should shift there or below. A3's are not like A2's, you don't have to flatten the gas pedal to get rolling then shift.

The front looks like somebody flattened it a little? The shift points seem about right, mine has a higher first gear shift than second, third and fourth are smooth. It downshifts smoother if you are stopping a bit slower and with less brakes.

I drive an A3 and am 6'3", 270 no problems here. The seat is a bit different than an A2, it is weight adjustable and has another 50lbs past me and the wheel is smaller. You still sit very upright and your knees easily touch the wheel.

There are commerical equivilant tires made by at least three companies, none are cheap. The GI tire is not that hard to find, they are occasionally on GL in batches of eight or 12. I found two new tires locally for 200 a piece and bought them. The commerical size is something like 365/80R20

I got mine for the middle of the ballpark and it was worth every penny. It had 490 hours and 6300 miles, after a service at Cat, I drove it 2500 miles home with no problems. It was slow, but uneventful.
