Dumb question - selling my CUCV to a Canadian - legal?

Ah, I see. Nope, I bought it from a company that had bought it for resale from the government/GL. It already had a civilian title when I got it. Guess I just need to see what the deal is with exporting it if he really pulls the trigger.

    Speedometer problem

Yeah. Was starting to wonder if the needle somehow slipped or something?

    Speedometer problem

Hrmmmm...that's weird. If it was a speedo gear or cable issue then it would get progressively worse as you went faster. So when you're just sitting still, what does it read?
  4. AJMBLAZER

    Speedometer problem

So it gets progressively more and more inaccurate as you go faster? 2mph off at 10mph indicated, 5mph off at 20mph indicated, 10mph off at 30mph indicated, etc etc?

Dumb question - selling my CUCV to a Canadian - legal?

Sadly I'm forced to sell Big Ugly. Just not wealthy enough to have the money and space to keep a vehicle I have no justification for anymore sitting around not doing anything but begging me to make it perfect and otherwise consume money and half my garage. Guy in Canada on CK5 is ALL ABOUT it...

    Speedometer problem

Considering they get their input from the same speedo cable then they should be reading correct. Perhaps at some point the speedo was damaged or failed? At what speed is it 10mph off?

    M1008 Speedometer recalibration

Gear housing for the speedo gear.

    M1008 Speedometer recalibration

Yeah, sounds like you have the wrong housing for that gear,

38's on M1008= Better Gas Mileage?

11.00R16 Michelin XL's on stock GM steelies. 38x11's basically. Fit under the fenders, 1" of front lift, cutting, and some hammer use on the wheel tubs up front. Fit fine but I am going to push the front axle forward an inch. Last I knew I was getting around 13mpg using very rough math...

    M1009 37x12.5s Uhaul Trailer?

Ugh...shipping is a bad word. Know too many people who've had it go bad. Check out their references REALLY good and don't go with the cheapest shipper.

    Confused on Towing

Get a proper frame mounted hitch and modify it to work if you can't find one that fits directly.

Expensive sound from rear diff in turns

It's a failing of that particular differential, the G80 Gov-Lock. There's a reason it's universally despised and known as the Grenade-Lock. As far as the gears go, the best way is to just count the teeth on the ring gear (big one in the center) and divide that number by the gears on the pinion...

Expensive sound from rear diff in turns

Go find a 3.08 geared rear axle out of a similar vintage GM half ton 4x4. Won't be hard. Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market I've seen folks over on Colorado K5 - Full-Size Chevy K5 Blazer 4x4 Restoration and Off Road Community give them away.

Expensive sound from rear diff in turns

A-He lives in Utah. Lots of wheeling out there. B-He said lowest cost possible. Buying and then paying someone to setup a limited slip and the gears won't be cheap.

    tops off

Hah. With all the framework, bows, buckles, retention equipment, windows, zippers, and all? Sorry, just heard that said a zillion times and never seen any result anything like what the commercial operations sell. A flat piece of cloth to cover the top of a roll cage and maybe wrap around...

    M1009 37x12.5s Uhaul Trailer?

Guys, no offense, but listening to some of your stories it's plain you were taking big chances. Anybody else remember the guy who bought the M1028 a few years ago, had trouble driving it back, then went back for it with a trailer and ended up flipping the trailer out from behind his tow truck...

Expensive sound from rear diff in turns

Skip the limited slips. About useless offroad when you really need traction. Lift a tire and they might as well be open diffs. A locker is better in all situations where traction is needed and if you drive sensibly then they aren't hard to live with. A lunch box (in carrier) locker goes for...

    M1009 37x12.5s Uhaul Trailer?

The rear has a 3" narrower track spacing. GM is either listing the WMS distance or different spec tires and wheels than the CUCV's got.

    M1009 37x12.5s Uhaul Trailer?

True. Either way, U-haul's vehicle moving stuff is not intended for anything fullsize and 4x4 or approaching it.

    M1009 37x12.5s Uhaul Trailer?

I'm betting it won't. This has been covered a million times and likely if you had talked to someone with a brain or who was paying attention they would have refused you too. Could be wrong, they might have gotten big trailers since then but I doubt it. Gotten dimensions from them?
