The star simply indicates that it is a US vehicle. The all have them. However, the stereo may mean it was a HQ vehicle or something. Looks good. I've never installed the rear glass, but it normally can be had from a glass shop for $150 or so installed. You might check out LMC truck for the...
Welcome to the forum, Ignus. Sounds like you made a wise decision. I paid around $2500 for my M1009 and it was pretty cherry. Hardly any rust to speak of and running quite well. Have had to replace the IP as it was leaking (upon attempting leak repair realized the whole thing was about...
How old is the pump? The throttle shaft seals are really not that hard to change, but chances are if they are going other stuff in there is going, too. Throttle shaft seals are only a couple of bucks from Stanadyne, and if i recall correctly, there's some place in Oregon that sells them...
Anybody ever bought one of these from Coleman's? I'd love to know if they all look as good as the ones in the pictures and what they typically charge for shipping. I'd do it in a heartbeat, but it may take some convincing of the wife that I need to spend another fat chunk on the truck in...
Saw a completely rebuilt transmission looks like a factory job (beautiful) on ebay for $795. You should be able to get a rebuilt transfer case for less than half that. If you look on craigslist and in salvage yards you can get working take-out trannys for anywhere from $200-400 and transfer...
"Cash for Clunkers"! What a joke! A good number of folks actually traded in for vehicles with same-as or worse mileage than their old ones. To be honest, I think more folks should be driving diesels. Much better fuel economy and more longevity under the hood. [My wife's late-model minivan...
I was having issues with this last week. So I did a bunch of research both here and elsewhere and here's what I found.
1. Be sure your GP system is functioning correctly. My truck is bone stock in this regard. Original GP solenoid/relay on the firewall, factory control card and military...
Double ditto.
This is where we need to find out who our elected officials are that are on the senate and house committees that oversee the DLA and make a little noise. I know it quite often seems they don't listen to the majority of what We the People want, much less a few green-blooded...
Okay, so I got under the truck to check out my popping steering. Steering box "looks" okay. But all my rubber is shot- ball-joints, shock/steering damper bushings, etc. is all literally crumbling. I can move them all with just a little hand pressure.
I've been planning a good refurb of...
You can list these as WTB (want to buy) in the classifieds section under the resource tab.
You should be able to find a rim by searching craigslist via google site search. The front tow shackles and the pintle hitch can be found at many surplus/liquidator or farm supply type stores. They may...
I read this thread and it gave me some clues, but it didn't really address my problem.
When I'm making tight turns at low speed, such as parking, I'm getting a sort of clunk under my left foot as the steering wheel returns to center. It doesn't happen every time, but it started doing it a...
I started my military career in the Marine Corps Reserves before augmenting to active duty, and if you do the math, it's really not hard to believe the mileage on the trucks coming out of ARNG units. The trucks are 20 years old, divided by say 50K miles is 2,500 mi/yr. divided by 12 months is...
BTW- my Mother-in-Law's former dog also had a "weird rear end problem". You know the one where their an@l sacs get impacted and they scoot their butt along the ground? Funny to watch, but I always felt bad when the poor pooch had to go get them cleaned out. Just be glad that's not the problem...
The Lube Order doesn't indicate the need for any additive in the rear diff on the M1009. Because it's limited to one wheel I'd think it's a brake or bearing problem. Good luck and report back when you know more.
I'd take what you can get depending on the price. If anything, the IP would be good as a core to rebuild (the seals are sure to be about done by this time). The injectors may or may not be worth it, again depending on price. A lot of folks would say definitely go with the spin on fuel filter...
Look in the TM (-34P) Intermediate Parts Manual. The part number is
6704001. If you search the cage code you'll see it's from Delphi.
You need the long fine thread for the early 6.2L.
NSN is 2910-01-150-0950.
usdieselparts.com has them as do others I'm sure.
Feel free to cross-check...
That's actually exactly the kind of "barney-style" breakdown I was looking for. Now I can take credit for adding it to the wiki . Thanks!
I particularly love the inclusion of "open the hood" and using a stepladder :-D.
I would hate to try to change them out with the hood closed...
