Good looking kit and nice job installing and documenting!
I've seriously considered building my own kit as I already have a real nice 12 volt pump/reservoir and a longer throw 4" cylinder.
My problem is finding a plan for the scissor lift portion which I can definitely build if I can find...
I've put about 1000 miles on my deuce and I have to say when the road gets rough, it walks all OVER the place if I'm running over 50 (Can you say walking beam suspension?).
The amazing articulation of the rear axles on these trucks seems to make them do the jitterbug when you hit rough road at...
I had a flat on my old Deutz tractor one day and decided to fix it myself (I was BROKE at the time). It took me countless tries (not to mention hours) to break the bead down but when I finally got it broken on both sides I managed to slip the tube out and patch it without pulling the entire...
Well I'm a neanderthal (arms longer than my legs) and my legs are still cramped! I'm 6'2" and 225. No problems with my belly but even with my short legs that clutch is Kryptonite to my Superman legs!
I have to agree with everyone though...I was bumping 265 about 3 years ago and the stress on...
Looks like you would need to go to the airport to turn that rascal around!
I would seriously worry about parts.
Seems like Deuce parts have started going up just since I've been on here. Maybe the less common trucks parts are already high (low supply) and maybe won't go up much more since...
A little determination and a lot of grins was all it took for me to get mine home (read: catch the bug).
A 5 ton is definitely on my radar now....
Eeeeegads I am so hooked.
The starter on an LDS is on the drivers side. That's the quick way to tell it has (or should have, no other reason to put it on the drivers side" the wastegated turbo. The starter won't clear the wastegate if it's an LDS turbo.
I use Progressive commercial. I have another medium duty truck insured with them and my deuce is about the same amount which is $400 a year.
I told them it was an AM General flatbed (technically correct since I have an A2C).
Gave them the numbers off the data plate for a VIN and when it...
I warmed it up this evening as suggested and I can hear the turbo when it's nice and warm. End play is nonexistent when it's warmed up.
However, when I went for a test drive, I experienced what one of the other guys talked about recently: WOT, max RPM = 2200 and top speed about 45.
So I'm...
Welcome to the club, you'll find that the water is warm around here.
More good info on this site and more helpful folks than you could imagine.
Seems like there are more ways to "skin a deuce" than you can imagine: box stock to fully customized.
If a fella has the werewithal and the...
Ok fellas. So I pulled the intake to the turbo. Reached in and spun the (impeller?). It didn't turn as freely as I expected. Kinda slogged.
I gave it a good side to side test, tight. Pushed and pulled it and it had maybe 1/32 inch of play but not loose. Had to give it a good bit of...
Hi,
I just did a 750 mile recovery that started out on 3/4 tank of WMO. The previous owner ran it exclusively.
I forgot fuel filters so I had C and C Equipment hotshot me a set of spare filters to the pickup.
The deuce did great without a hitch.
Of course, the previous owner said he had...
