What to look for when buying a deuce..

What to look for when buying a deuce..

Matt, I searched high and low for about a month or so (not too long, but I had a bit more to spend on a fresher deuce). One thing I noticed is there seems to be a LOT more deuces east of the Mississippi than west. My 2 cents is to be patient, learn all you can from this fine site and those...

    No tubo whine

Oh man, watching that video makes me want to go for a drive . How can such a beast speak to me on such a fundamental level (takes one to know one?). Ok, so that is characteristic of what I've felt happen a couple of times. Especially when I first hit the road...1st, 2nd, 3rd (thinking...

    Another start relay option

Contacts rated 12v @ X amps should be able to handle 24V @ 2X amps. True, you don't want to give her 24vdc to the solenoid. I think I saw all of that written on the bathroom wall once....

    No tubo whine

Oddly enough, I could hear mine when I was on the way home on the recovery but when I drove it a couple of days ago, I can't hear it anymore. Also, it seems to have bursts of power (well, "burst" is a strong term). Anyone heard of a turbo intermittently locking up? Seems like those bearings...

    Deuce locking fuel cap

Like my daddy used to say (last week it was), "You can't stop a thief unless you use enough lead, but you can keep an honest man honest with a decent padlock"...

I got the broke deuce blues

I'm with ya Pal. I left Georgia last Friday with a tight truck and rolled into my place 2 days later with a sieve rofl. 750 miles was more than this truck saw in the prior 3 years I believe so it's inevitable. Thank goodness I'm armed with a bevy of useful information (and informants) here on...

    muffled the roar

I have to say it does take the snap outta that exhaust note. In fact, you can actually hear the engine noise with it on there. Thanks for the video.[thumbzup]

    10 Ton M125 Repaint

Here's what I think :not worthy: Not even close! Beautiful work. Prettier than the B17 I saw a couple of years ago.

    Well,now I own a 915A1

Nice MV addition Congrats on the big acquisition! If I get one of those, I can recover just about any truck without needing to have my wife in tow  I knew I shoulda stopped in to see some of the SS folks while I was in Alabama. Who knows what I might have been able to towbar home...

    muffled the roar

3db is a 50% reduction in sound pressure (if I have my information correct). I agree with the "still want it to sound like a deuce" approach. I suspect I'll go with something similar because sign language is dangerous when you're trying to drive! Thanks for the great info and pics.

750 mile recovery on the horizon

Thanks to all. The restaurant shots are for my scrapbook so I can remember the places I stopped  The tires are Michelin 11x20s and while I've never driven the NDTs I must say these handle very well for their tread pattern. Plus, I can run 50-55 quite comfortable and the truck is just...

    Land Train???

565 feet long...makes me feel a bit :cookoo: Gotta admit, that would make a heck of a camper...c'mon up honey...the weather is fine up here!

750 mile recovery on the horizon

Picked up my 1st round draft pick today. :D Wow, what an awesome day. After a 750 mile trip, I am finally the proud addict of my first deuce. Made about 300 miles towards the journey home. I can honestly say a 300 mile grin is hard to wipe off.
