    Basic run-flat questions for 14.00 20's

Perhaps I didn't need the air-hole- was matching up with the USA ones with the hole in the slot. Yup- those are the tires I put on front; they steer nice. Still got to get my CITS working. Kept the parts in place- Spring project. Did not consider working CITS and run flat. My rear tire blow-out...

    Basic run-flat questions for 14.00 20's

Hi all. Recent post got me thinking- next time I buy some tires, it might be smart to try to use run flat on steer axle. Are they A-Symmetric? If so, what way do you mount the "thin side" before the run flat rib-thing? Also, will the groves in the bead-lock part work with the air inlet for an...

    M923A2 New tires.

FYI- last I checked Eastern Surplus, Phila. Pa., (and an E Bay guy in Virginia) had new Continentals. They sold me the pair of Generals but may be out. $5 K budget- for 6- should be more than enough. #395's at about 46 inch is an option if changing a full set (7??). Bead Locks re-use OK. Good...

    Battery- stop gap?

Brief feedback: Above working A Ok! Started to-day, 26 deg., sitting 30 days, no either, 1/2 hr on the sump heater. 3 in truck, 2 wired up.

    M923A2 New tires.

Wow- orig 1991? Too bad you didn't get routine Unc. Sam change out around 2000 at least! Your call- will probably need your old bead-locks. Gemplers has good O Rings. Shipping may be a deal maker or breaker. I like a pair of affordable "NATO" stye new old stock, General Brand from S Africia...

    Battery- stop gap?

Thanks to you both. I plan to change to 2, #31's, new, soon. My 4 are older, but dates are within a month/ a set. I wanted to confirm that using 2, fair batteries only are better than 3 fair ones with 1 that probably "dropped a cell". Post Script- interesting that both banks came out to 23.3...

    Battery- stop gap?

Hi all. 1 of the 4 (Military, #6 size) batteries crapped out. Reads just over 10V when I split up the 2 banks and test. Pair of #31 probably on the list, after Christmas bills clear. Until then- should I run 2 of the military ones, or leave all 4 and top off before a winter start? Thanks.

    Fluids for my M54A2

GL-4 is OK for "yellow metal" . Recommended for Mussel Car era gear boxes. Select vintage rear axles too. Some bottles marked "MT-90" or the like. Bit pricy, good load capacity. Chemically OK-confirm with bottle label. If member has trouble with it holding junk in suspension and causing...

    Fluids for my M54A2

Your axles are very forgiving. Straight 90 wt. (Conv. type) hard to beat. 80 wt OK for all the hottest climates and highest loads. An 80W-90 Can't hurt. a 75w -140 or 80W-140 most likely OK, I doubt reqd. Lastly- artic service may like a 75W. Too thin to me unless truly artic. Leaks suck. 1...

    VERY basic bead lock question

Good 2 know! Wealth of info here. Small point may help another "new guy"- noticed S African, General brand came with bead locks that need holes drilled to get the air in. Hope for myself, military , etc. that #395 and 14.00 20's take the same parts as that could be a silly headache pending...

    VERY basic bead lock question

Cool and will do. Thought that there could be a Trick, like those pre cell phone kids puzzles. I recall the one where you have a steel ring trapped between 2 horse-shoe shaped pieces and you have to get the ring out. I am getting faster at tire mounting otherwise. A young man's sport... thanks.

    VERY basic bead lock question

Full rubber bead lock. Middle photo. 1 piece Super Single "rubber Ring", with an "air Groove" only. I wondered if I squish it flat-ish if it would bounce back to round, or if I do something silly I may mess up a bead on an expensive tire. Cool photos, thanks.

    VERY basic bead lock question

Thanks! Figure I'd stand on old Bead Lock, bind it with twine or wire, and work it in. Just common Bead Lock "donuts"- bead size, not Run Flats...

    VERY basic bead lock question

Hi all. I'm gonna sound like a bonehead here- Other tires I bought (Super Singles) had bead locks inside. For "bare tires" , do I squeeze bead locks inward , then install- pry ,tire beads wide to put in bead lock, or both? Lastly- can I reuse bead locks "almost forever" if they look OK? thanks!

    Can I substitute 450/80r20 tires for 14.00 -20's?

Got it now. Those sand tires looked interesting, but unsuitable. Glad I asked though. Looks like original 14.00 20's now a crap-shoot. Bought 2 last year. Probably should have bought 4. Live and learn. ...

    Can I substitute 450/80r20 tires for 14.00 -20's?

Have a 925A2 5 Ton. Can I sub the above tire size for the 14.00 r 20's? 14's are getting older, but I don't want to buy 7 now as only 1 or 2 are in need of upgrades. Thanks!
