Look to the basics- You know that you have something wrong at your Dash Disconnect Switch, right? If so- check power in at the switch - if OK, check out. Remember- even a part connection/ short will pass the itty bitty current needed to light your dash. It should not be too hard to "jump out"...
Yup- Steam. Graduated US Merchant Marine Academy in 1992. Cadet sailed Howell and Almeria Lykes- 900#, 24,000 shaft horse power off of 1 boiler, each. (were APL previously) Sailed on License USNS Comfort (600#) and on Great Lakes more than a bit where the "gentle " 450# plants don't Rust...
Small world . Sorry to hear of your ticker- take care! May have earned tattoos . AMO. USNR reserve, MSC, Maersk, US Steal, ARC, Crolley, OTHERS. Paid alimony. Actually old enough to sail a bit on my Cheif's Steam ticket. Retired 10 yrs. Best luck.
Fuel in oil trivia. Worked on ships for decades. Fuel in oil is/was a big deal. Simple precautions taken. On "generator sized" diesels, broken, cracked, and leaking fuel lines constant issue. Many of the diesels had separate oil system for "rocker box" vs main sump. Main oil filtered and...
Never plowed snow with my 5 ton, but drives thru bumper high snow well . Good at pulling out snow stranded diesel 3/4 tons too, so I guess you are good to go. Tru , hard ice is a challenge without chains- found that out when trying to pull a 4-4 tractor out of a ditch, then again you don't need...
I did mine with a (this web site recommended) one for an 1980's Fox (think small LTD, Mustang, etc) Ford. Was in stock and affordable. Required only the slightest of modifications. A bit smaller and alluminum, but you will never notice..... I THINK, buy without AC Option, but your parts guy will...
Simply check that your sender is linear. See what the resistance change per 10 deg is cold, then warmer, then warmer, than at operating. If linear- your sender is fair (responds ok, calibrated questionable, or good) . Then look to gauge. If not linear- you got bad sender. The wiring is...
Post Script- I prefer Good Years over Michelins, do mix brands, same truck. I try to match brands on same axles, and best (Generals now) on fronts for safety and good steering. As you know- need to keep diameters same. Some can disagree- I am on a budget, but need to work to avoid blow-outs...
I was 100 percent in your shoes this spring. Bought 2 new old stock General brand- S Aferica Military NATO Treads for my fronts. Eastern Surplus is vender- Pa. I like the tires- no cracks, and I do not work for them, etc. 14.00- 20 size
You may be relatively OK, with the sender out of calibration for your voltage, or in general. If so- now your gauge reads realitive- to the right= hotter, ignore #'s. A workable solution is to solder in line a small resister to match up sender to your gauge #'s. Cost pennies- I pulled one from...
I completely agree. But, with new, quality anti freeze you may want to wait on additives unless you have a known issue. Excessive (I doubt a bit of additive qualifies... ) dissolved solids also not great.... 'just saying- good luck.
Any auto parts store will carry "additive" , including water wetter. The dosage is on the package. Try to use as close to distilled water as possible at changeout . The Anti-freeze part in antifreeze can and will last forever. The additives are to control pH (acids formed are bad), and lube...
I recently needed 2 tires due to cracked sidewalls. Went with General/NATO type from Eastern Surplus- new old stock. Put on front. 14.00 -20. Price OK, works OK, May not be Radial, despite what add said. Smother than vintage Michilines they replaced. 3 of my rear 4 are Good Years, I think they...
No situation: 45 all the way. Mouse gun just a patch for little training, lack o discipline. Concede 9mm better for small ladies and police that need dozen rounds to drop on unarmed excided girl in her living room, as last week.
Great! Sounds like you have a great source of SYN Gear Oil, or a poor source of the Dino stuff! The Synthetic may give you more piece of mind , and a bit less "warn up time" , if heavily loading in sub-zero weather.
My 2 cents- The viscosity of the synthetic oil would be A OK, as stated above. YOUR Business, buy why?? The axles, especially should be severely underloaded, relative to capacity and lubrication, for the mass majority of civilian users. If you must overload- you may be better served by 90w-140...
Hello- If you say they are not Radial I tend to believe ya, as they are on your rig!! The add said "Tubeless Radial" . I guess the sidewall does not have the "R". They were the only "100% " tread 14.00-20's I can find.
Good Tip & thanks. The tire vender is a good guy and pointed that out. Found a listing for NATO 14.00-r20 and ordered a pair as I can't afford to change all 6 or 7. Anybody have feedback on NATO type on or off road? They look kind of cool.
