    IP Rebuild

The time has come to rebuild the IP on my M1009. I have the TPs and other useful information on removal and installation. I can get the Stanadyne rebuild kits online for ~$30. I am quite handy and think I can tackle this task with some help. Does anyone know of any good videos or other...

Did the 12 volt conversion. Made a funny video of the first start. Enjoy.

Great soundtrack and movie clips! Where is the music from?

    M1009 Idle Noise

With the engine running, crawl under and wiggle the heat shield on your starter.

    No Dash Lights in M1009

Checked for power on both sides of fuse. After putting in no less than three 'good' fuses from the shop, I decided to pick up a fresh pack of Buss fuses at Autozone while I was having my rebuilt alternator tested. Guess what, they now work! My guess is that I had oxidation buildup on the fuse...

    CUCV Wiper Challenge

With the tropical storm blowing through SC this morning, I had the opportunity to really rely on my windshield wipers. I also have read numerous threads about how slow or fast fellow members wipers are (or are not). So, I came up with a real simple test and controls. First, dry windshields...

    No Dash Lights in M1009

Turning the knob only turned on the courtesy light under the dash. Headlights work.

    No Dash Lights in M1009

The 5A instrument fuse is good but no lights. Indicators, high beam, and blinkers work. I cleaned the instrument cluster connector and have it firmly seated. I have verified that the lights are good and have cleaned/greased the connectors. Batteries are good and load tested. Any suggestions?

Wait Light Issues with Legacy Card

Can you describe the differences? How do they each work. I have the GPD-2A card from AT.

Wait Light Issues with Legacy Card

I stand corrected. These were not purchased from CE! They were purchased from AC.

Wait Light Issues with Legacy Card

Having gotten no response from CUCVElectric, I wanted to ask the forum if any of you have experienced this happening. I have tried two legacy cards on two different M1009s. All the LEDs on the card work and my WAIT light comes on for just a few seconds (engine cold). Using a voltmeter, the...

    Rough Idle and Engine Vibration

My M1009 seems to idle rough and the engine vibrates. Smooth at highway speeds. Wondering if one of my injectors is bad. If I listen to each exhaust, one seems like it is rougher. Could this be a simple way of telling which side of the engine is giving me trouble? Eliminating four cylinders...

    Anyone Clean their Glow Plugs?

My M1009 was having a hard time starting; plenty of smoke and turnover but no start. Checked voltage at bottom of GP relay and had >11 VDC. Decided to remove a few plugs to check their condition. None were swollen but they all showed a lot of charred residue making them hard to slid out. I...

My truck was stuck at the beach & I can't get it started.

What is the DC voltage going to the glow plugs on the bottom of the relay? I doubt you have any. Your glow plugs are not heating up; otherwise, it should fire up immediately.

    TH 400 Replacement

I need to replace the TH400 in my 85 M1009. Can any GM TH400 bolt up? Must it be from a 4WD? Must it be from a diesel? Any short shaft vs. long shaft issues? I can find many but just want to get the right one, if it matters.

New M1009 Owner Needs help with Manual Push Button for GP, Electric Fuel Pump, Filter

Hard starting? Invest in a decent multimeter and some alligator clips. Make sure your batteries are good, i.e., have the local auto shop LOAD test them. Then, clip the negative lead to ground and the positive lead to the output side (lower) of the GP relay. Place your meter on the wipers so...

New M1009 Owner Needs help with Manual Push Button for GP, Electric Fuel Pump, Filter

Welcome to the CUCV world Justin. You will find a wealth of information on this site and all of your questions answered. Much of this has been covered before. Just learn to use the search function and get either e or paper copies of the Technical Manuals (TMs). You can certainly do...

Please let me know how the replacement goes.

    ATF red dye?

If you plan on doing this, get legal and apply for a miscellaneous motor fuel license. In SC, you basically end up paying less than .20 per gallon used for the user fee, inspection fee, and environmental impact fee combined. Down here, the application is free, you get a license, and you just...

    M1009 Vibration at Idle

I upped the idle a bit and it calms down!

    M1009 Vibration at Idle

This has me stumped! My M1009 is a very smooth riding CUCV, except at idle. At idle is shakes. I thought it may be bad motor mounts. The engine seems to vibrate more than it should at idle and more than my other M1009. Mounts seem ok visually. I noted that my transfer case mounts were very...
