    M1009 Front Hub Temperatures

Turned out to be a bad caliper that was hanging up the pads on the passenger side. Replaced the bad caliper, added new brake pads, and bleed the brakes. All is well.

    M1009 Front Hub Temperatures

What is the deal with hub temperatures? After driving under 6 miles around town (<50 mph) in under 15 minutes, I noticed that my front hubs are very hot (air temperature around 85°F). I could not hold my hand on them for longer than a second to two. Rear hubs were slightly warm. I have...

    M1031 Recovery from Redstone, AL

Hats off to Wreckerman and Royce for hosting me on my first trip to Redstone! Recovery went without problems. It was a slow drive back to SC due to weather and my overabundance of caution. I hope your journey was good back home also. Thanks guys!!

    M1031 Recovery from Redstone, AL

Really good info! I was planning on bringing two rims/tires but the DOT business really got me thinking that a trailer is the way to go. I have recovered a M1009 from GA on one so it will not be a big deal. The M1009 would not have made the trip otherwise. Redstone GL said the vehicle starts...

    M1031 Recovery from Redstone, AL

Getting prepared to pickup a M1031 from Redstone Arsenal next Friday morning. Plan is to tow it behind a Dodge 2500 back to Florence, SC. I will be taking AL and NW GA back roads until just north of ATL where I pick up I-75S to I-20E. Just wanted to see if anyone would be along that route in...

Proper tow bar connection to any CUCV?

What else to safely tow a CUCV? I assume disconnect the batteries and put both the gear shift in Neutral as well as the transfer case? Anything else? Looking to tow one from AL to SC next week.

    Voltage Drop with Load

I have grown accustom to my CUCV operating perfectly (alright, just well) and then all of a sudden, develop a weird problem. My recent one is that now my voltmeter will slightly deflect when I turn my headlights on, brake, or even hit the turn signal. It will track with the turn signal...

    12 V vs. 24 V Starters

Beyond the difference in what voltage you supply them, what is the difference inside? Heavier wiring, brushes, springs, etc.? A 24 V will supply more torque and speed for starting. Can you burn out a 12 V by feeding it 24 V?

    m1009 vacuum lines

I have the opposite problem, the M1009 shifts way to fast. I have replaced everything except the regulator valve on the IP due to cost, although, the vacuum pump was $125. Moving the valve in each direction makes no difference in shift points. Completely disconnecting the vacuum results in...

    gpr power issues

Does the pink/black wire have 12 VDC at all times or just when the key is turned?

    Engine Wiring Harness Block

In addition, TM 9-2320-289-20, page 4-89 shows only four connections (one is the 'double' blue wire), for a total of five wires. To clarify my first post, I have four connections, but on splits into two blue wires before the fusable links. I have a total of five wires out.

    Engine Wiring Harness Block

I have a M1009 and I am trying to determine what some of the wires are that are attached to my 12 VDC harness block on the firewall. According to TM 9-2320-289-20, page F-11, there are only four wires: 12 VDC feed from the (-) battery #2 (rear), two blue wires that are together that feed to...

Where did you get the correct starter bracket to hold it on the front?

    Direct vs. Gear Reduction Starter

What are the advantages/disadvantages of these two types of starters on a M1008 (both 24 VDC)? I know the brackets are different. Are they interchangable? Any problems?

    Shifting, help me understand....

I have a 85 M1009. Shifting is quick and smooth. I am in third by 20 to 25 mph; resulting in a very slow acceleration. The kick-down switch on the accelerator is working fine. If I almost floor it, it will stay in first or kick-down. I have replaced the vacuum lines and modulator valve. I...

    pioneer tool rack

Seems like you could attach the HMMWV rack to the front brush guard. Weld a hinge right below the lower bar above the tag star. Then weld two small clips for the unit to attach to on the upper. That way, it would securely hold the tools and still swing downward for access. I have included a...
