It is called 'after glow' and helps reduce emissions/rough idleing while the engine warms up to operating temperature. A manual system will never be as effective as a properly working controlled system.
Smelled that burning electrical last night. Looks like a diode on the GPR card is toast. Anyone know what this component is and if I can get a replacement at Radio Shack? Vehicle will not start as the GPs are staying energized.
Awesome weekend! I really enjoyed meeting and talking with all of you! Thanks for letting Rick and I drive the big M35A2. After only a few miles, it was a blast. Thanks to Jim for taking us back to his place to let us rummage through his yard and shop (I'll take the half-track and a Huey)...
Does anyone have a reference number to the Generator 2 suppressor (condenser) that is attached to the negative bolt and ground? I am converting back to a two gen system and need to purchase one.
Took it in the road and got the wife behind the wheel. Driving forward or reverse in 2H (hubs unlocked): front drive shaft does not move, the front axles do not rotate. If I lock the hubs, the axles rotate opposite. In 4H or 4L (hubs locked), front drive shaft rotates and the axles rotate in...
The front driveshaft was spinning according to my buddy who had to pull me out. My bet is the lockout. Is this an easy repair? Expensive? Thanks for the help!
Took my M1009 off-road over the weekend. Hubs were locked and I was in 4L. Got stuck and realized my front tires were not turning! Everything was turning except the tires! What gives?
Can the unit be connected to the + and - buss bars in the back of the truck? I am planning on mounting the solar panel on the top of my M1009. Makes the install easier and does not subject the control box to the under hood conditions.
Just thought it would we way cleaner to get most of the ATF out before dropping the pan. Are you saying I could do damage draining the feed line? I will be able to see the fluid going into a graduated container.
Changing the ATF tomorrow and want to disconnect one of the ATF cooler lines that goes into the radiator and connect to a hose to completely drain the fluid. Which one does it flow OUT of, the upper or lower line on the drivers side of the radiator?:grd:
I discovered some vacuum line issues between the modulator, IP, and tranmission valve. Could those be causing the slipping of reverse? I took it to a parking lot over the weekend and drove in reverse for several minutes. Once it gets going, it seems to be fine.
My new M1009 project truck does not like reverse. All forward gears are fine, no slipping and good shifting and down shifting. Reverse is another matter. With some revving, it will start to slowly move backwards. Once it gets going, it goes. I have topped off the T fluid and put in some...
I noticed on three different M1009s that the glow plug relay is bolted directly to the firewall (metal to metal), and thus grounded. I just purchased a new GPR and noticed that they have nice rubber boots that effectively connect it to the firewall with no grounding. I can see where the rubber...
Found out the accelerator was not moving the kick-down switch far enough. Everything worked fine when I jumped the two leads together. Now to adjust the switch.
My M1009 will not down shift under load. Vacuum lines replaced and checked the resistance of the accelerator shift switch (goes from infinity to 0 ohms at full throttle). I now want to check/replace the solenoid on the drivers side of the transmission. Do you just remove the orange wire and...
