Please read carefully and execute all steps in EXACT order. This procedure will work on ANY Military Vehicle, regardless of Year, Make or Model.
Step 1: Verify that you have a problem. Examples: Vehicle won't start. Left taillight doesn't work. Tires are black and round. You get the idea...
WVO is very popular with older Mercedes because of the design of the fuel injection system. I don't plan on running WVO in my Mercedes or my CUCV, it is too much trouble to collect it and clean it up. I do however plan on running 50/50 Diesel/WMO at least during the warmer months. I have a...
The primer assembly on this unit looks just like the one Mercedes used on their diesels up until about 1976. I have several filter heads and primer assemblies like that since I have over 100 Mercedes parts cars. I like the idea of free mod parts so I think I will try this route. The filters are...
@chief1983: I am sooooo jealous. I want one of the grill covers really bad. I don't really need it here in Georgia, but I sure do want it. I also want a set of Jatonka canvas seat covers for my 1008. Anyway, today I performed the 00,000 mile PM service. Yes, she turned over 100K on Saturday. Did...
If you are running 50 mph on unimproved gravel roads, something is gonna break on any truck, I don't care what it is. That being said, I would go with the MV any day. My girlfriend has an '02 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 and I have bent suspension parts just riding around in a flat pasture (at slow...
@islandguydon: Yes I do change the oil regularly, but I cant take the credit for it's longevity. It had 90K and some change on it when I got it.
@Goose: I took mine up to 75mph once just to see if she would do it. I only did it for a second and it sounded like it was going to explode so I wont...
I knew that subject line would get ya! Actually i have the same truck, but now it has Zero miles! At least for a minute it did anyway. My truck turned over 100,000 miles tonight on the way home from a Patriot Guard Mission. I managed to get pictures while riding down the road. I know I shouldn't...
If I am not mistaken, the factory oil sender is for an oil pressure light, or should I say "lack of oil pressure" light. It only comes on when the oil pressure is abnormally low or no oil pressure at all. That in my opinion is really a stupid thing to have. They should just call it a "walk"...
Not sure how to remove it either but my switch is hard to turn sometimes too. I found that if I pull up slightly on the shifter with my left hand and turn the key with my right it moves freely. Try that, maybe it will help. I think you have to pull the steering wheel to replace tumbler. Check...
AHHH, Pictures like that make a mechanic smile, provided the customer says to fix it, that is. I love the smell of a cooked engine, smells just like money.
Or does that mean they are just out of commission? I thought about lifting mine and installing big tires but I work out of mine almost everyday. It's hard enough climbing in and out of the bed as it is. Think I'll just stay stock.
@hogtruck. Both of your trucks look very aggressive with the lift and big tires. One of these days I'll get down to MS to check out the fleet. Looks like you have thinned the herd based on your signature. Did you get the links I sent you on the red glow plug switches? Not near as cool as the one...
Welcome to the addiction. How do you manage to get 20 MPG I wonder? Mine only gets 14 MPG at best. I try to drive it as if there was a raw egg under the accell pedal, and never faster than 55 MPH. I have heard of others that get 20 MPG.
Very nice install. I wish I had a metal brake, very jealous. Nice cuts with the torch, most cuts I've seen with a torch look like the metal was chewed apart. I like the way the hitch forms a nice step to get into the bed of the truck.
I don't know what it's called either but now I know what I saw at the local 4X4 shop that builds mud bog trucks. Very cool looking. Unfortunately the shop I am talking about takes the axles out of the MV's and apparently scraps the rest. I should stop in and see if I can get their parts trucks.
Not sure what the difference is but I used a S55 relay from my local Mom and Pop auto parts store that is traditionally much higher than Advance or O'Reilly and it was only $42.00. Another SS member said I should get either the ST85 or the S55. My local store only had the S55 so I got it and it...
I did the doghead starter relay mod today. Also, thanks to a thread started by sharecropper, I discovered that these trucks have an under dash light. A used bulb and let there be light. My next mod will be a real dome light from my parts donor civi truck complete with door jamb switches.
