This is true young one...I was livin and workin in Los,Angeles at the time and the starter and alt went out on the old 78 gmc and I hoofed it to the local trac auto parts store...paid 19.99 for a alt that went out more than I did and I took it back about 3 times before I gave up and got my $...
It may be called overkiĺl by many here but I used 2/0 and 4/0 cable when I replaced all of the large battery cables.Keep in mind as you are building your new cables that none of the ends are steel. Steel is a horrable conductor of electricity.I will never have battery cable issues on these...
If anyone wants here are a few setups for replacment shift rails / shafts.
I just bought a set as my np205 is on the shop floor its not too much of an expence to do it now but to do it later would more expence and more hassle as well. According to my gm dealer the stock shift levers are...
I work for an auto electric shop, and one thing the owner is always saying to folks that come in with battery cable issues: When replacing battery cables never use ones with steel ends IE if you look at a standard aps (auto parts store) even one like napa, you will find the off the shelf battery...
I see this thread and have to ask myself is this loony, and Keep in mind Im now answering myself.
would you do this? And I answer well yes and no...as I personally would put M1008 axles and drivetrain into a M1009 as an upgrade for the M1009 but would not downgrade a M1008 with the inferior...
how old is the pump and belts...and did you crawl under the eng to see if any of the places the pump is secured are missing. have the same engine in a cucv...it has 3 spots where the brackets bolt together to secure the tightness of the belts and on my 6.5 engine truck one of those spots fell...
IMHO this was only done when the tc was a syncro type ie in a few years of the civilian release of trucks, suburbans, blazers from aprox 1985-1991 the tc came with syncro rings associated with the shift mecanism and had automatic hubs as well. These TCs also bring a premium when having one...
My nv4500 is brand new it has the gm codes of a 2001 according to the advance adapter bible , so that means its the 2nd gèneration
, link to the bolt patterns follows. Mine is the 1996+ with the 5
600 bearing retainer index aka transmission pilot (not to be confused with input shaft pilot) my...
The shear pin is under the hood in engine compartment...on the steering shaft where there are two diameters of shaft. So right in the area where they meet close to the frame.
Keep in mind not all drivelines have a slip at the front end
..when I did my NV4500 swap in my M1028 from the so called 1986 NP205 to the civilian 85-91 NP205 the rear driveline output was not a slip it was a ubolt yoke.. so if your rear output whether 208 or 205 has a slip on the end.. keep...
The calipers I used are the dana 60 front ones so not the same as the caddy calipers wont fit my setup as the rotors are smaller in width and diameter.
Ive read that the NP200, 201 tc,s brake can be adapted to the NP205.
Sorry to say ive also read that it only works on the figure 8 or...
I think you have it backwards if your rear driveline goes out how would your e brake still be functional ? Unless the path of mechanical resistance is thru the front differential and keep in mind 4wd would need to be engaged to have a functional e brake if the rear driveline is lost. And...
I also have modified my 14bolt rear differential to my own design of disc brakes...and have thought of adding a parking brake as the auto trans is also about to get swapped out in favor of a nv4500 5 speed trans....but im mounting my parking brake on the differential as if i loose the rear...
Think about it like this if you run an internal slave and it leaks you have 2 problems you have 300+ lb trans and tc you will need to pull to replace or repair and depending on how bad the leak you might have to deal with a disc and pressure plate thats covered with hydraulic fluid or brake...
Ahh the key to this is you have the 1st design 92-94 and
..I have the 2nd 95 up. The mounting bolt pattern and the pilot aka index is also different between the two.
Are you suggesting using a stock bell from a cucv vintage truck or one from the vintage of the transmission (mine is a 2001) vintage? The bell from thè cucv vintage wont work (im sure you're aware of this).
The bell from the 96 (2nd design nv4500) up chevy wont work as it is mounted in the...
