M923A1 with Hyd PTO - no winch

Got my M923A1 from GL and it has the PTO controls in the cab, pump components, and hyd tank. Probably had a winch at one time, would there have been anything else other than a winch installed ? I have no desire for a winch, so should I just leave the stuff or remove it? Thanks Randy

    GL Mistakes not all bad

I bid on a M923A1 at French Camp GL and won. I stated does not run, towed in, no batteries. So I decided to keep the bid low and if I won I would hope for something inexpensive or easy to repair. I loaded up the pickup with all the tools, chemicals, batteries, diesel, pumps, electrical, etc. and...

    Transfercase Stand/Jack.....

FMJ, I did kind of the same thing. Used a regular floor jack, lifted of the bowl or support plate and fabricated a cradle of 1 inch plywood (scribed to the t-case), then bolted that to the floor jack. Worked great although weight was a little off center, so will adjust that when I go to...

    Transfer Case Bearings

I'm getting ready to order all the bearings for the t-case on the M35A2 after the small input shaft bearings puked their cages. I still don't understand the single shielded bearings being used, was this part of the design and the way they were originally built? Seems like it would restrict...

    New owner of a M925

A good wife is important in playing with OD (or CARC) iron. Mine even put up with 6 deuces, I told her "you won't even know they are there and we'll have to send the dog out to find them amongst the trees". Lately got rid of 3 deuces and will now add the 5 ton. As Fibber says "there goes a good kid"

Determing year of mfg on M923A1

I have searched forums and internet for finding a way to determine the year of a M923A1. Trucks I have seen do not have the year stamped on the data plate on the dash. I would get a truck at least 25 years old so as to register it Historic Vehicle. Apologies if I have missed this posted...

    M923 or m923a1

Howdy, Since I'm not having luck finding an M813 close, I will go M923. Can't decide between M923 and M923A1, duals or singles. I will be only using truck to play with, a few parades, shows, or local drives. Any input will be appreciated. Thanks Randy

Found pieces of metal in tansfercase, it's a shame because i was going to sell it

FYI, I contacted Boyce on the transfer case, $ 1450.00 rebuilt or $ 850 clean used (whatever that means). 165.00 shipping to Ca. Jatonka shows new ones on pallet on website, but never responded to my email.

Found pieces of metal in tansfercase, it's a shame because i was going to sell it

Good question, I don't know the answer. Actually I got my CDL just to not worry about it, but I've never been pulled over and don't know anyone who has in a deuce, have heard both side on the CDL issue. Licensing as a "Historic Vehicle" is only $81.00 a year, but then no hauling and supposed to...

Found pieces of metal in tansfercase, it's a shame because i was going to sell it

Just recently had experience with selling deuces and transfer case. Transfer case had same metal on same plug from probably same bearing. I would not drive truck in that condition as the bearing balls crowd to one area and would seem to hasten a failure. Fluid had turned to a thick molasses and...

    Help with bracket identification

Maybe someone can tell me what these are for. Out of six deuces this is the only truck to have them and they are only on the left side, one bracket in front of mid axle wheels and one behind rear axle wheels. Thanks Randy

    Rust below windshield

What I did hadn't checked this post for a while, I had a metal shop bend a piece of sheetmetal same thickness as the swiss cheese piece and radius it slightly smaller to fit over the existing piece. I then arced it to fit the cowl, used weld thru primer, used rosettes to tack it to the top of...

    large hinges on bed side

Been looking for a 5 ton and noticed one for sale on EBay in SoCal. Any idea what the large hinges are on the outside of one side of the bed only? Thanks
