    Carb question

I spent some time at Madigan / Ft. Lewis many decades ago. I hope your son gets a chance to enjoy the area while he is here. Please come by if you are up here again. I'm at the north end of Lake Washington (which is just north of Seattle). It is always great to talk to other M-37 / M-42...

    Carb question

Years ago I left way too many parts on trucks because "I can always come back and get them later....." Well, later either never came or somehow those trucks managed to get away from where I'd left them. Considering the condition of some of those trucks, that is truly a miracle. Didn't mean to...

    Carb question

I'd grab everything I could, because if you don't need it, someone else will (as opposed to leaving parts to rot into the ground). I would suggest getting all the "branded" bolts (DPCD) and whatever "bits and pieces" (door handles, window cranks, bed stakes, hood latches, tool racks, bed seat...

    New, from Oregon

Welcome to the site from another old guy who was in the Army in the late '60's who lives in the PNW! I only have a little truck (M-37 / M-42). Storm 51

    Canvas and paint

That is what I'll probably have to do. Of course I'll need to buy a compressor so that I can pump them up again when I move it out of the garage. My son will be happy if I buy a compressor. My wife and daughter probably won't be however. Storm 51

    Dual wheels on a M37

I have a set of the dual wheels with new NDTs mounted on them. I bolted them to the front of my truck to be sure they would work (they do). I was worried about steering interference (there isn't any). You are correct about the increased steering difficulty though. Unless you are in mud or soft...

    New member in WA

Welcome to the site! There are lots of folks on here with CUCVs. You can probably find a CUCV around here from a private party that has already been licensed and maybe improved a bit too. I'm in King County too (up near the northern border with Snohomish County. I've got an old M-37 / M-42 so...

    M923a2 weak point.

I usually don't have any problem pulling stumps because I leave about 6 feet of stump to use as a lever and I do the pulling after a good soaking rain. The long lever just pops it right out. It takes longer to hook up and untie the stump than to pull out. I just use my little M-37. I don't own...

Landed my first M37 in Aberdeen

The front top edge of the windshield has a tube attached with a slot along the bottom edge. The front edge of the canvas top has a piece of rope stitched inside for the entire length (side to side). This canvas wrapped rope slides into the open tube on the front of the windshield (I find from...

    Post your m37 pictures

Always nice to leave winter when you've had enough of it. Too bad your truck doesn't get to play in the snow though! It can be a lot of fun (the salt's not fun though). Storm 51

    Post your m37 pictures

Good luck with your parts truck, Chillywilly! Lots and lots of spare parts are nice to have! Storm 51

    Post your m37 pictures

I think those are great hot water (radiator) cab heaters. Where you live, however, I'm surprised you don't have one of the fuel fired heaters. I hear that Wisconsin gets a little chilly in the winter, and that winter lasts a looooong time. Storm 51

    Post your m37 pictures

That truck looks to be good shape after sitting under the trees for almost 30 years! Looks like a nice truck to start a restoration on. Good luck with your project, and post pictures as you make progress! Storm 51

    Best Gear shift knob

Here's a couple of pictures of the gearshift knob in my M-37 / M-42. Nothing outrageous, just a little something different to match the branding on the heads of the bolts on the rest of the truck.

    Southwind heater parts source?

I would also like to know of a source for the parts (filters, diaphragms, etc.) for these heater units. I have a few burner units I'd like to complete. Thanks, Storm 51

Old style combat rims on a trailer

Sure, glad to post them. I save my NDTs for static display. I got a great deal on my tires which is why I have 2 complete sets of wheels and tires. I picked up the combat rims over the years (I've had my truck for almost 35 years). A bunch of rims were given to me in the old days because no one...

Old style combat rims on a trailer

Here's some pictures of the wheels and tires on the trailer. There is also one of the rear of the trailer where I've added a pioneer tool kit (I think having more tools than you need is better than not having enough - get everybody workin'). The tires are Super Lugs by STA. I got a complete set...

Old style combat rims on a trailer

All the wheels on my M-37 / M-42 truck and M101A1 trailer are "combat wheels" from WW II. I know they are not "correct" but there are other things on my truck that are also not "correct", but I like them, and I justify them under the rubric of "commander's discretion". Anyway, here's some photos...

    Canvas and paint

The heat is in the floor (slab with water through the floor). Can't do that. I'm going to try to drive into the garage instead of backing in and see if that gives me enough room. Still have to build the 3 junction boxes and test & repair all the radios. That is this winter's project. Storm

    Canvas and paint

I already raised the garage roof and made the garage door larger; and yes it was expensive - very expensive. I've raised it all I can. Now I just have to figure out a way to make it work. Storm 51
