That piece on the tailgate is a hinge and is factory for center support of the tailgate. A lot of them load up with dirt and junk, bind and then bend. They are commonly removed when destroyed. I don't have one and don't miss it but I also don't load the tailgate to the max.
I got my M101 3/4 cargo trailer back from the sandblaster. The outside of the tailgate has 4 uprights that each have 2 holes in them on the outside. These are plugged with some sort of rubber/plastic plug. 5 of my plugs are missing and the remaining three are pretty worn from the sand blasting...
Before I got my Pioneer Tool Trailer done at various times, while it was rusty, then when it was sand blasted clean, then when primed - people would ask me or say "WOW that is a huge B-B-Q cooker!" OR "Is that a military hearst trailer?" OR "Is that a military field kitchen?" OR "Is that mobile...
I got one that was all rusted and the hinge joint was shot. it stunk of mice. i cleaned it all up and modified the interior for a 7.5 KW current technology generator and plan to use it as a mobile shop. I also painted it Air Force blue tom atch my M37. It is a great trailer!!!!!!!!!
I have added Air Force markings to my blue truck since I took the avitar picture and since then (10+ years) I can't remember when/if anyone asks me why it isn't OD. They just assume it is correct. They even assume it is the correct Aif Force blue shade though it isn't. I still do get comments...
I did mine in a deep navy blue that is close to the Air Force blue. Someone on the G741 forum redid their's as a bomb disposal M37 or some such and I think the bumper and front fenders were painted red. They have posted pictures somewhere. Check over on that forum...
I got some of munsters trailer parts but I am still missing the part that the two legs of the A frame bolt to and the surge hitch bolts on top of. Does anyone have one kicking around or know of a trailer dealer (I looked on line at Crofts but couldn't find anything). see the picture with the...
Welcome to the wonderful world of M37's There is a dedicated site for M37s it is the G741.org site. They have a forum that is great. Go to http://g741.org/PHPBB/index.php?sid=7fd5b0ecb24950e96fa7b93a3bb64ae9
Nice build! It seems like you reused everything on the trailer. What kind of parts off the trailer do you have that are left over? Send me an email off line. I am looking for loops and surge hitch mechanism stuff but depends on what you are trying to get rid of. Shipping to NC may be the killer.
White oak not red oak. White oak cell structure supposedly makes it last longer than red oak and less susceptable to cracking. Good tight grained white oak is harder to find.
Attached are some pictures of stuff I removed from my PTT. I think the one picture is the wire reels that you are looking for. However I have other stuff like wood socket holders and even a metal socket holder. I carefully ground the welds when I removed the metal fixtures. I wanted a completely...
Yes please post the PDF and I will see if I can do anything with it. Maybe someone else can also do a better "repair" job then me. I just got your email and sent you a reply. I stripped out everything on the floor of my PTT and the walls and saved the parts but don't really plan to use them...
So are you looking for the reels (no cables) but not the brackets that hold the reels? Email me off topic as I might have 2 that I removed from my PTT when I stripped the inside. Mine PTT was on the M101 frame as near as I can tell and I don't know if there was a difference in the reels. I don't...
