Poll - Who has done the Doghead Relay Conversion

I did the conversion on mine a while back, no issues.

    New Seats for CUCV

I've got two Blazers at the moment, my CUCV and a 79 civvy 2wd, so I've got a bunch of parts saved including extra seats I've come across. I do have a set of 88-91 Burb/Blazer captains chair buckets to put in the front of my CUCV and the correct civvy Blazer seat bases. Just eyeballing, I...

    Atlanta area: M1009 batteries

I got a pair of 950 cca batteries from Carquest for around $70 each new. Were you in Palmetto a few Fridays ago? I saw a truck that looked like yours. Civvy batteries work fine, the x2 part sucks at the cash register but that can't be helped.

Went and bought a turbo, why???

I'd just looked at the generic kits that come up on a search for "oil return line" on ebay. It's mostly generic kits but it's not hard to find one that will work in the application for $40 to $50. As for the supply line, I'll have to look. There's a good spot for pressure, don't recall where...

Went and bought a turbo, why???

There are plenty of kits on ebay that are simple enough if you don't mind dropping the oil pan and welding a bung on.

Went and bought a turbo, why???

I've been working on my civvy K5 lately but couldn't pass up a 6.5 turbo and manifold that came up locally. That led to ebay purchases of the non-EGR intake and the 6.5 injector lines. I did not do nearly as well as you did but somehow have all the above for less than most turbos go for. Just...

may have to part with my m1009

ebay has been flooded with them in the last year and a half. Prices were high at first but have tapered off to near nothing. Sell it locally. CL is probably the best bet.

How to turbo a 6.2 using 6.5 parts

Thanks for the tip, I got a set of used 6.5 injector lines for pretty cheap. Now I'm shopping new or rebuilt shorty 6.5 injectors. Tons of good info here and I appreciate it. When the install begins I'll start my own thread and document everything for future reference.

How to turbo a 6.2 using 6.5 parts

I was thinking of pulling the front quarters for this job, sounds like you'll be throwing more wrenches if you don't.

How to turbo a 6.2 using 6.5 parts

I kind of figured there wasn't any difference power-wise but have budgeted for the 6.5 injectors for clearance issues. I appreciate all the info, I'm learning as I plan and purchase the parts.

How to turbo a 6.2 using 6.5 parts

Question on using two manifold gaskets to clear the injectors - can't you use the shorter 6.5 injectors instead? Also, do the marine 6.5 injectors make more power?

How to turbo a 6.2 using 6.5 parts

I bought a complete GM-8 turbo/manifold/oil line off a 99 6.5 for $175 and an upper and lower F-code intake for $120. Mine has the vacuum operated wastegate still on it. There are detailed instuctions on another site, and possibly this one, on how to take that wastegate and turn it into an...

    1989 suburban 4X4 axles

3/4 ton GM trucks in the 80's could have the 8-lug ten bolt up front, pretty sure that was the case for Suburbans too. Verify before you buy.

    1989 suburban 4X4 axles

I'd check online auctions and see if I couldn't get some shipped for less, or consider driving.

    Atlanta, Ga area request

Yeah, ditto that - you'll have to. It's just eight bolts, but like you said, they've been locked together since their inception. I've tried it before on another K5 with hand tools only and ended up giving up. Changing shocks is pretty simple but when the nuts and bolts are fused together it's...

    Converting a M1008 to a 350

For future reference, take outs are available for around $1100 that have been bench tested for oil pressure and the compression checked. Hard to beat that price.

    M1009 rear window key lock

I've already replaced the one on my civvy K5, the lock cylinder is missing on my CUCV and needs replaced. It's not that big a job. I don't recall the exact steps because I replaced the crank mechanism with a new chrome one when I did the one on my civvy truck. I don't know if you have to...
