Mine will get 33's when I upgrade the suspension. The devil is telling me Baja Claw's will look sinister on black 15x10's, the angel is telling me it'll still look good and will ride much better with All Terrain TA's on the same wheels. I'm not sure who will win that one, but I'm looking...
I bought one and installed it this afternoon. It works, but I'll admit I was holding my breath there for a second. I got lucky with the new support bracket, my local dealership had one left. The starter seems like it weighs half as much as the original direct drive starter, worth the upgrade...
They showed up a few days ago and came with an exploded view so you can see how to put them together, I trial fitted them in my hands and it was easy-peasy. But I redid the door panels (again) this weekend and replaced the starter to get ready for a camping trip next weekend. I'll make pics...
I hate to admit it; I do like to do basic wiring but I can't read an electrical schematic. I've only done the doghead starter relay mod because someone was nice enough to post pics of the thing. That worked out well, btw. But I'd appreciate it if someone would post a pic of the brown wire off...
I can do that. I can tint windows, and many years ago I did the glass on a previous K5. I took the vent latches off for better access to the glass but when I put them back on, they no longer locked. So I'll find installation instructions if they don't come with them so I can do a better job...
I guess I could buy the chrome ones and blast only the "button" piece that will be outside the glass. That at least will keep the exterior chrome-free.
Does anyone know a source for the black ones? I'm missing one and the other is loose. I've seen the chrome ones in LMC but want to use the black ones if they are available new anywhere.
The nose cone on my starter cracked through. The gear reduction starter from db electric looks good, but I want to make sure I have the correct bracket if I buy one. Does anyone know the part number or application for the support bracket?
Tachometers were an option on 1/2 ton 73-87 trucks, but most didn't check the box. The 100 mph speedometers were used until 1980 when banned by the government. They were required to read 85 mph max with some sort of emphasis on the 55 mph mark, the maximum speed limit allowed at the time.
You could remove the "factory" alt gauge from the dash bezel to eliminate duplicity and put a tiny tach in that spot with one of these pods on the dash. That'd be a very cheap set-up to keep good tabs on the vitals. I agree it'd look much better with black-face gauges.
Even if the circuit board on the back of the cluster accepted them, or if you swapped in a new cluster, you would lose the Gen 1 and Gen 2 lights that way. Not worth it.
I saw this and thought of using it. Not sure if I will but thought I'd link it here. Better than idiot lights and looks better than the typical open-back 3-gauge panels.

I got my M1009 from CS a little over a year ago. Meleta treated me well, Sgt Bradley was more than helpful. She sent for a truck to jump mine before I even tried the batteries, which worked fine. Easy transfer of ownership, helpful crew.
I've got a 20-yr old version of this floor jack: Sears: Online department store featuring appliances, tools, fitness equipment and more
It fits behind the spare tire and inbetween the tailgate and rear wheel-well with room to spare. I've used the stock screw-jack and it worked, but it...
