RORO shipping help for new FV-432

The 432 is now in Southampton and is supposed to be on a ship on April 13 - arrival date is sometime in the beginning of May. I ended up just paying the extra $1800 to have the shipping company handle the trucking down to the storage site. More money - less hassle - and when I went to actually...

    Free FV-432 Manuals

I wanted to put a post here as a marker - there is an FV-432 website I go to : wwwfv432couk.freeforums.org - Index page One of the chaps there :) - Andym - has managed to convince the MOD to declassify the FV-432 manuals (all of them) and let us regular people have them. He put them on a CD...

    Armored Deuce

Having ... ahem ... thought about this at length, by far your best bet (if you are still determined to do this) is to do what Heath says above. 3/8 plate x 2 layers alone weighs in at about 30 pounds per sq foot. Figure just to do the cab alone (very roughly) 8 x 6 x 6 cube would weigh in at...

RORO shipping help for new FV-432

Well that's an odd thing. I'm working on getting a new job and there is a pretty good chance I may not even see it myself. I had an interview Friday for a job in LA and if that had gone thru (it didnt) I would have been stuck down there when it came in. The kind of work I do, there is no such...

    Big Rock Moving thru SoCal

I was thinking that sure looked kinda small for 640 tons, but if you do the math looks like 20' x 30' x 10' to me (altho I'm sure that's off a lot) that's 6000 cubic and granite weighs about 166 pounds per cubic foot so that's about 1 million pounds = close enough. Still looks small to me LOL

RORO shipping help for new FV-432

Update from OP : Just received my (conditional) approval from the ATF. Sent in around Feb 1 approved Mar5 returned to me Mar 12. Only thing of note is that it is conditional on the smoke dischargers being de-milled. The dealer has told me that they have already been removed so this should be no...

RORO shipping help for new FV-432

I did actually get many many quotes, I'd say several dozen and you are correct in all you said. The quotes were all over the map, some guy from some nigerian shipping company was the cheapest ($ 3000) and I dont remember what the most expensive was, probably over $9000. For now I have picked...

RORO shipping help for new FV-432

OP here - I'm guessing the Hormuz post was in regards to the price of oil skyrocketing and maybe shipping coming to a halt. Which is something I have thought about but ... As an update - My form 6 is at the BATFE and the export license has been applied for. I also have a shipper lined up -...

Will 16.00s fit on an M920?

Yes. The problem is will the rims fit. There are several threads on this - Soni (M920) has some fotos and info he posted. The HEMTT rims need modifications to the drums (see Soni's diagram)/

RORO shipping help for new FV-432

I had not even thought about rail transport. But in any case the quotes seem to be coming in pretty decent - about $5000 or so tacoma including the customs broker fee and that's about what I budgetted - so ok there. Course if the strait of hormuz gets closed off in the next few months while I am...

RORO shipping help for new FV-432

Well that's what I tried to tell the wife LOL She's busy shopping for a new laptop / kindle thingie in an attempt to get even with me - plus I had to wash all of the dishes today for some reason ... I think I will be paying for this in a lot more ways than just money - but I count myself very...

RORO shipping help for new FV-432

About 6 feet tall and 30,000 pounds. Seats 12. Like a big armored SUV - LOL I figured if I was going to ship it halfway around the planet I might as well spring for the nicest one I could find - altho to be honest there weren't really a lot of them for sale. MOD-sales had some (the...

RORO shipping help for new FV-432

On the off chance anyone is interested - one of the other units I looked at is pretty near the Southhampton docs, was in storage quite a while so has low miles/hours etc. It's an FV-436 instead of a 432 - but I think is in good shape and quite a bit cheaper than the one I got above, but not thru...

RORO shipping help for new FV-432

Yeah that's what I said. Looks like you could eat off the pack. I know most are pretty closed mouth about what they paid for stuff. I paid 10,500 pounds but that includes delivery to the docks, cleaning paperwork etc. I went thru a dealer who I will review (if anyone asks) later after the unit...

RORO shipping help for new FV-432

It appears that I am the new owner of an FV-432 - now to get it over here. It's near Liverpool in the UK - would like to know if anyone can recommend a cheap RORO shipper from the UK to the USA ?

Lookie What Showed Up at Work Today...

An obvious question - how do you 'remove' the third axle ? And why on earth would that be necessary for someone to drive at night ? THAT is what I want to see a foto of.

Building a custom cab ? The mHET

In best chinese accent - HAHA you a funny funny guy :) OK rivets. Plus & Minus 1) Looks great, even better than welding 2) Time consuming but not difficult with right tools 3) Most likely still have to weld up a frame 4) cant do steel & AL together or you get galvanic corrosion 5) Have to...
