Which APC's can stop .50 cal AP rounds ?

Sorry - OP here - I did not mean to ruffle any feathers. I understand that some of you would be sensitive to this info being on SS, but THIS IS a military vehicle site, and it is hardly anywhere near to classified info - and as someone pointed out, I am only interested in info about pretty old...

Which APC's can stop .50 cal AP rounds ?

I would be very interested to know WHICH of the LOWER-PRICED APC's / Tanks would have enough armor to stop .50 caliber Armor-piercing rounds ? Maybe none of them ? I'm thinking of the Ferret, M113/114, Saracen, FV432 etc. Any of them ? None of them ? From my reading, it takes at least an...

Can a Deuce to tow a Deuce on a trailer without a CDL ? Yes.

Ah - there we go - thanks RLWM - the tow rating on the Deuce is just 10,000 pounds. So that shoots that idea. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/14759-max-towing-capacity-m35.html#post144630 So would it work with a 5 ton ? I assume the 5 ton tow rating would be 20,000 pounds highway ? And it...

Can a Deuce to tow a Deuce on a trailer without a CDL ? Yes.

Not a plan - just trying to see if this would work or not. 1) You could be right about this, but a Deuce tractor would have much much more than 8000 pounds situated about 6 feet forward of the pintle hitch. And as I stated above, you could use the 5th wheel instead of a pintle hitch and this...

Can a Deuce to tow a Deuce on a trailer without a CDL ? Yes.

Can a Deuce tow a Deuce on a trailer without a CDL ? Nope Guess not :) I can see the heads shaking now :) :) :) Watch me pull a rabbit from this hat (said the moose to the squirrel). Reference the attached diagrams. The first is from the Washington state DMV and it is a matrix for...

Looking for 5 ton Power Steering parts

I have an ad in the classifieds but wanted to make sure it wasn't missed. I am looking for 5 ton power steering parts from the multifuel engine, I need the pump housing, the gear and the nut. Foto attached. I know that Eastern has one on their website with a pump and a reservoir for $425...

Many thanks to everyone - some really great anwers - exactly what I wanted to know.

    Removing a Turbo

I know this is kind of heresy - but one of my goals is to make the deuce quieter. On another old thread someone posted that they had C & D turbo deuces and then a naturally aspirated one (no turbo) and that one was by far the quietest. 1) How hard / expensive would it be to pull a turbo from a...

Ending prices not shown on GL

So I see that deuce in another thread went for $2600 - so I guess the answer is no they are not accurate.

Ending prices not shown on GL

And the 6007 deuce went for $2120 according to this page : Demil Q Industrial, Marine & Vehicular - See Terms & Conditions for GL Titling Policy at Government Liquidation Surely someone here knows if this was the right closing price or not ?

Ending prices not shown on GL

I know this is an old thread but since everyone always bitches about 'search for it yourself' I did :) There was a couple of water buffalos I was following on GL yesterday - went to look and sure enough the prices are gone. But I did go to the event calendar, look up the event ID, sort the...

    813 GL - Alert

This site is supposed to function to help each other out. It may have been against the 'rules' but it was still the right thing to do. Saved someone's ass undoubtedly.

Primer on modern tire upgrades for the deuce?

Here's a truck with duals, stock rims (I think) and civilian tires (look like snow tires to me).

Primer on modern tire upgrades for the deuce?

That there is readyman's Lil Ruthie : http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce-modification-hot-rodding/14745-lil-ruthie-gets-some-new-shoes.html#post144402 LOL - I think I have hundreds of fotos of different tire combos I found on this site. Edit : whoops - I screwed up - got confused because...

Primer on modern tire upgrades for the deuce?

Not trying to rain on everyone's parade here :smile::smile: - just trying to point out all the facts. Couple other things to consider - the stock NDT tires do NOT last very long. You can do the search here, I would say they last 10,000 to 15,000 miles MAX. For comparison, big rig tires...

Primer on modern tire upgrades for the deuce?

Short answer. No. Those older Ford rims and the Hino rims are all 22.5s as far as I know. The other problem with those is that unless you can find the newer Hino/Fedex truck wheels, you are looking at ford rims that are 30 to 40 years old. Not optimal IMO.

Primer on modern tire upgrades for the deuce?

11Echo - please let us know what you paid for those XZL's ? Were they new and who did you go thru. Retail on new Michelin XZL 11.00R20 tires is .... http://www.naspo.org/documents/WSCA_Michelin_Net_Price_List_030109_final.pdf ... wait for it - $1200 - unless you're the state of Utah, then...

Primer on modern tire upgrades for the deuce?

11R20's are recommended for 8 inch rims. The deuce rims are 7 inches so probably not as big of a risk as some other wild combos I have seen around here. Problem is .. good luck finding them XZLs. If you are going 11R20s then the military surplus tires are pretty much Firestone T-831s : Gays...
