    STE/ICE for M52A2

Can someone tell me if the standard (1st generation) STE/ICE kits would work on the M52A2 ? Is there a plug on the vehicle somewhere ? Seems like it would be pretty useful if it could test a bunch of things - anyone have any good or bad things to say about it ?

List of mods I have completed on my deuce

Thanks Cranetruck. No need to make a special effort but if in the future you run across any more shots from the rear where there isn't anything on the bed, maybe you could put some here. I think your truck and Miltruckman's with the crane also, are the two more interesting and useful rigs I...

List of mods I have completed on my deuce

Bjorn - do you have a fotos from the back with the pipeline bed and the Hiab in the 'stowed' position ? Very nice setup and I plan to use your list as a master list of things to change - very helpful !

N107A1 M149 Water Buffalo Tank Dimensions

Actually, never mind - I think I found something better for my purposes. These fuel transfer tanks are built for the job and they would be a lot easier to mount + they don't really look as much like fuel tanks as the round ones. There are 2 on CL for $300 each. That would give about 2300 mile...

N107A1 M149 Water Buffalo Tank Dimensions

Can anyone tell me the physical dimensions of a 400 gallon water buffalo tank (from the M107a1 or the M149) ? I am looking to find diameter and height of the tanks. From the fotos it looks like the tank is kind of 'squashed' in the vertical dimension. My idea for this is to use it as a long...

    Alternative Rear Tandem Wheels

Good input RangerDave - so you are using 10.00R20 on the original military split rims ? And the Freightliner guys didn't have any problem with changing the split rims ? I see the SLR on those is 19.6 so in my example above - 50 mph on the standard deuce becomes 52.4 on the 10.00R20 tires...

    Alternative Rear Tandem Wheels

And let me add this info - Super Singles improve fuel economy : Michelin Americas Truck Tires Press Releases Page and page 71 of the Kelly Tires document above. Fuels economy with Super Singles is 6 to 10 percent better than duals on OTR trucks and trailers.

    Alternative Rear Tandem Wheels

I never thought so much about tires in my life LOL :-D - here is some good info about Static Load Radius - which is used (not tire diameter) when comparing tires : Truck Gears, Axle Ratios, and Gearing Formula - 4 Wheel and Offroad Magazine So according to my math - if you are going 50 mph in a...

    Alternative Rear Tandem Wheels

Sodslinger : that's probably one of the most useful pieces of info I've found on this board - thanks for that. By any change do you have a spare wheel you could take some measurements on ? Or could you tell us what tire size you used that worked well with those wheels ? According to the info I...

    Alternative Rear Tandem Wheels

Sodslinger - how did you specify which wheels you wanted to the salvage yard guys ? i.e. did you just ask them for Ford medium duty rims or what ? Here is a pretty good video on how to change standard trcuk tires by hand : amazing how easy this guy makes it look - this is a Michelin video...

    Alternative Rear Tandem Wheels

Well here is a thread on the subject that I dug up from 2005 : http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce-modification-hot-rodding/235-what-do-you-do-fit-radials-your-truck-2.html It appears that 1960's to 1970's Ford F-600's used 22.5 single piece wheels to fit the Deuce and so did some of the older...

    Alternative Rear Tandem Wheels

    Alternative Rear Tandem Wheels

I know I know - another tire wheel thread LOL But I've read probalby a hundred different wheel threads and not found an answer : I want to stick with duals in the rear, but ideally it would be nice to have two piece rims that are capable of mounting tubeless tires. Never even heard them...

Late Model USAF Contract M35A2C Spotters Guide

Thanks for the help Mike - appreciate it. And for another USAF specific question - for those of you who have one of these, were you able to get insurance pretty easily on this, and at a decent price ? Most of the other A2's are quite a bit older and qualify for antiques, these are newer and...

M35A2 BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER TECHNICAL CHALLENGE

I know this is an old thread ... So based on my googling skills it looks like the dual brake master cylinders for the '87-'89 USAF trucks / M35A3's are impossible to find ??? Is there a rebuild kit available anywhere ? If not, then what do people who own a USAF or M35A3 do if they have MC...

What is the best way to tow a M35A2

Which is a good point. However, one of the advantages of deck loading like Recovery did is that you would be under the 26k CDL limit as the M275A2 weighs in at about 12k and the Deuce at 13k. I know that 26k number has been argued to death, but in WA state the DMV says that limit is for both...

What is the best way to tow a M35A2

Thanks for the info - I also found this pretty interesting Youtube video of how they deck load the big rigs - including each step in the process. Always wondered how that was done.
