OK - thinking out loud here.
On top of the mostly manual idea, I like things that are going to easy (as in EBay easy to source). That's going to be a design standard as well.
Thinking over the fender idea, as long as the structure of the hood is such that the fenders don't flop or vibrate a...
Found this

73m819 it's a great idea, I'm just thinking it would be fairly complicated thing to pull off and as much as possible I want to stick with the KISS principle. These projects generally never end usually because they get bogged down...
I have been in discussions with several members about their M915s and I have an ad in the classifieds looking for some trucks.
I am definitely planning on a tilt-hood. I am not interested in going firberglass or anything so the **** thing is going to weigh a ton. So how do you tilt a hood that...
Yeah - Soni's truck is something else that's for sure. I've looked at the thread of his for a long time now - and I've thought about a 916 or a 920, but to be honest, it's too much truck for me (hard as that is to admit LOL).
For me I like the 915 because it has the fully auto trans (and...
HAHA - great :)
Yeah I watched that thread for a while - if I remember correctly that one was going good until he slid a big steel plate into his ribs and broke them. I've broke ribs (several times) before and needless to say, you are lucky to be able to put your shirt on after that.
I'm lucky...
OK - maybe this is a nutso idea (wouldnt be the first one I ever had - nor the last LOL) but I keep looking at the M1070 HET (see avatar profile album) and looking at the M915 ... and looking at the HET ... and looking at the M915 - and thinking ...... (which is a dangerous thing LOL )
If you...
Your thread - I respect that.
But keep in mind that just because you ignore the tiger does not mean the tiger is going to ignore you.
A lot of people are going to learn that very hard lesson in a very hard way over the next few years.
But I will shut up now. :)
I will add -
this country used to be full of MEN - who weren't afraid of ANYTHING. I remember all the tough old bastards I met when I was a kid, guys who ate nails for breakfast.
Now everyone just wants to be 'safe' - have mama holding their hands all the time like little babies ready for...
This is all happening because the govt is broke and desperate for money.
How broke ?
Go look at the chart below of federal govt expenditures for 2010.
Now subtract 60% of those expenses and you get to break even.
Which 60% do you think we should get rid of ?
This is only going to get far...
Doghead - thanks for the clarification.
I think being a mod is a tough job and like you said, mods are people too.
Thx for the work you do - helps the site a lot.
I'm not sure how you would do it, but it might be an idea to revisit the wording in that section of the rules - if for no other...
OK - so just to be clear - this rule :
Is going to be enforced as : Make sure you tell a story or add some other info about what you have tried or are going to try before asking for help finding parts.
I want to be clear that I am not being a smartass,
I am simply trying to figure out exactly...
It took me about 5 minutes to find a bunch of threads where people are requesting help finding parts :

Has anyone ACTUALLY put HEMTT rims on a M915 ?
And yes I've done the obligatory search, spent all morning looking for a post where someone actually did this. Closest was M1075's FMTV rims & wheels.
I know you can do this with the M916 & M920's if you grind the front ubs, I was hoping the...
Big thx Bighurt for that manuals site - they had EVERYTHING in one place on their home page - that is a great resource - I even found M1070 manuals I have been looking for - many thx again.
thanks - appreciate that info - so that means M915 and M916 (& M920) both have stud pilot wheels even tho they are different sizes (20 inch versus 24 inch)
Since the M915 is stud pilot (according to the answer I got to that question I posed on another thread I started) does that means these wheels & tires should fit on an M915 ? Or not ?
Here's the accuride info for those wheels ...
