JB Weld to fix tach? Yep!
The tach in my M925 is inop. Turns out the female fitting in the back of the tach is wallowed out and won't grab the square tachometer cable. Besides replacement is there an easy fix for this? I was thinking about a little JB Weld in the hole, a light coat of grease...
I really like that look. Thats nice work right there! No plates or plate lights so I could just go long and narrow. Did you use a cutoff wheel or a torch?
Eikes! I don't forsee that much trouble in my future. I am going in the right direction and I can loosen them just fine. I wonder which steel is stronger, hub or stud? I'm hoping just the studs are stipped.
Finally got a lug wrench and breaker bar and set about properly torquing all my lug nuts. 55/60 torqued properly to about 425 lb/ft but 5 on my front right wheel would only torque to about 200 lbs before the stud spin in the hub. So my question for you experienced types, do you think the...
I replaced several burned out dash bulbs.
Began fixing my tach.
Read the TM on how to test my oil sending unit.
Broke loose and then properly torqued all my lug nuts.
Lowered my tire pressure to 35psi in the hopes of a less bouncy ride.
Close. It's called PS Magazine, as in a Post Script to a TM. Here's a link where you can download them all. https://www.logsa.army.mil/psmag/psonline.cfm
This video shows one of our members servicing the brakes. It shows how to remove and install the pins. It also explains why you can kill yourself working on them. My disclaimer is the same as his, for informational purposes and should not be attempted. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=i8qp53AIQrA
I appreciate the tips. I haven't had time to re-investigate the problem (spent time fixing my winch instead). I'll report back when I get a little more time.
I tested mine yesterday and also thought it wasn't working. Turns out it just spins much slower than I thought. I laid the hook end about 20' in front of the truck and had to run it 15-20 seconds before it tightened up the cable on the drum enough to actually move the hook end. Also the speed of...
In the Behr paint thread there's a member who painted his soft top about two years ago and he reports it stuck well and still looks good. Long thread so I don't have a link but it's in there.
Thanks! I'm not sure a headlight refinisher would give me the results I was looking for. All had decades of grime on them and many had paint overspray from poor taping or just sloppy painting. I wet sanded with 400 grit to remove the paint and then followed that with 1000, 1500, 2000 & 2500...
First off I read all 195 pages of this thread! That actually took about the last two weeks. This week I did a lot.
I fixed my broken passenger door handle.
I made two wheel chocks.
I entered a car show and won first place.
I took my dogs for their first ride.
I disabled my emergency fuel...
My unloader was giving me fits (wouldn't build air) and I didn't have the time or gumption to tear it apart. I removed the governor line and gave it a nice shot of WD-40 using the straw. I was shocked by the bunch of rusty water was shot back out the fitting! I followed that up with a shot of...
I'm considering adding what the DOT calls rear identification lights, the three reds in a row generally required on vehicles wider than 80" to the rear of my M925. I've seen a few pics here, mostly from members in tedious inspection states, but a search hasn't turned any up. I'm trying to get...
