Hello all!! With my engine rebuild about wrapped up, I am looking at some other things I need to do one of which is rebuild my front end. I was looking over stuff at ORD and saw they have a kingpin eliminator which uses poly bushings rather than the springs. Has anyone used these and if so what...
When I had mine at the machine shop during the rebuild, I took the new balancer up with everything for the balance job and there was some question as to whether or not that was the balancer I would be using. The machinist told me if I switched to another to make sure the both the weight, and its...
Hi! Just curious about your setup. The 205 has the PTO, correct? Is the brake you installed for the PTO shaft? I have no experience with these and like I said, am just curious.
Thanks,
Greg
Spell check, be, not me! lol, just playing! No offense intended!
As I said, I have been using the larger filter and the extra oil for a cpl years. I have done mild off roading and have never had an issue. You are only talking about 1 quart diff.
As to the high volume pump, my gov. re-power...
Hello! I had posted earlier about using the port near the oil cooler lines above the oil filter as a possible place to pick up oil pressure, the set of bushings that came with my gauge did not have one that would fit that port. I thought I would try this, sorry for the cell phone pic. It it a...
Hello all, I know this is an old thread and I am researching the idea of a NV4500 swap. Since I am at just the research point, I was wondering, if the clutch pedal has a NSS on it, could you not just run a line, perhaps via a real to one of the wires on the starter relay, the one in the Doghead...
sschaefer3, during my rebuild, I have switched to an electric pump, if you are wanting to stay original, I will send you my old pump rod for the price of the ride, Im sure I still have it. PM me if your interested.
Greg
M1008BOV, thanks much for your reply, the time to take the pics and all! Thats great your so close to my area, we will have to get together over a beverage of your choice some time and talk big green toys! lol
I am going to try and have it ready to put back in the truck this weekend, so it...
Nice looking work! My only question is do you feel that the area that is actually welded is strong enough to pull the truck out of, say some deep mud? I only ask this as I am totally uneducated when it comes to welding and such and it looks to my inexperienced eye like a small area to support...
Warthog, thanks for the advice! Actually, it will be being installed before the alts and batteries are even back in the truck yet, my one worry is interference with the pass. side alt.
Skinny I know that would just be a simple swap but I want to keep the light and have a gauge. I plan on...
Hello all! I was wondering if any one has ever used or had a reason not to use the hole that is plugged on the upper pass. side of the water pump? I checked and there is no issue with probe depth, etc.
Thanks much!
Greg
Hewfdad, thanks much! I am rebuilding a 1996 factory turbo motor so Ill be using all of those parts, I have never looked into a Banks system and did not realize that they pick up the turbo oil supply there.
Mainsail, the pic is of the area ahove the oil filter, thats what I meant when I said...
No one knows if thats a plug for an oil passage? I know you can just build a "T"
and use the current spot, just thought I could save a few $$ on hardware if this was
an oil passage.
Hello all! I was wondering what your thoughts were about this plug being a good spot to pick up oil pressure? The two nipples are for the oil cooler lines.
I will be using a mechanical gauge until I recover from the rebuild and can get some speed hut stuff ordered.
Thanks much!
Greg
Thanks guys! Warthog, for some reason, I hadnt run accross that thread, but in the 2nd set of pics is exxactly what I have. I had looked through the TM schematics, but was looking for something a little les "jerry rigged_ lol I guess they just did what worked.
Thanks again!
Greg
Hello everyone. When removing my old motor, I found the connector pictured below with what appears to be a diode jumped between the two contacts. The connector comes out of the main harness accross the fire wall. I have been unable to find anything I think it might be looking through the TM...
86camo1ton, I agree with using the poly mounts. I went with a total suspension rebuild of my vette and went with all poly suspension, I love it! I would also consider an electric fuel pump with a regulator and as mentioned above, a safety shut off. Just my 2cents, but I really like the electric...
