I am pretty sure I have an injector going out and a cpl of others I kind of question. When shopping for new ones, I found a service on a popular auction site offering to rebuild your injectors. The name of the company is listed as kr_services. They say they use bosh tips, new, not reman. and...
I am going to have to replace my VRV on my truck, went through all the trouble shooting and its the culprit. New vacuum pump, all new lines, etc. vac. at valve is good but no change at tranny with acceleration, check vac at tranny with VRV bypassed and its the same as at the VRV input or...
This is a link off speed hut, close to the same price and alot of custom options available, full sweep as opposed to 90*, all kinds of stuff and their quality is first rate! Its 12v, you would have to call and see if they could do 24, but I bet they could...
Keith_J, I havent seen starter rebuild kits, Ill have to look into that, thanks! Do you know, if you bought a rebuild kit for our 24v starters and got a dead core, prolly free at my local salvage yard, do the correct parts come with the kits to rebuild it as 24v? I dont know if the coils inside...
Hi!, I don't mean to steel a thread, but I am tossing around the idea of a 700R4 swap and am a little unclear of the lockup clutch ppl talk about on the TQ. Can someone either explain this or point me to a good thread or article explaining it? Not a kit for doing so, but exactly what it is/does...
cook6657, when you say nasty off road how do you mean? They do not perform well? I didnt think they looked like they would be an ideal street tire.
Thanks much!
Greg
1StumpJumper, I can defiantly see your dilemma!! I am curious about the brand of tire on the rear in the pic Drock posted in post number 9, any one have any idea?

Sorry it took a little time, but here are a few pics.
Fresh home from the mchine shop
Painted and pistons installed
Waiting for the new motor
On the stand, ready to drop in
Turbo intake cleaned up
Few shots of it installed
I am wondering other than running the exhaust outside the frame from the wheel well back if there is any other option for running your exhaust when installing a GM turbo? I seem t recall someone mentioning notching the frame to be able to run it inside the frame like the stock NA setup, but a...
On the diesels, is there a diff between single and dual plane? What is the actual structural difference between the civi and the military intakes that make that much diff in HP? I know the rebuild kit I bough had two sets f intake gaskets, one withe the very center "port" blocked with a small AL...
Southdave, I am familiar with its stock location, I was simply wondering if it was a viable alternative for the "box style" units that are stock on our trucks. I am happy with my stock unit and like I said have been lucky enough to not have many of the common problems other members have...
Hello all! I was going through the parts from the 6.5l turbo motor I bought from salvage for my rebuild deciding what I was going to scrap and what I wanted to keep. I know many members have issues with our original fuel filter units, cracked housing bad O-rings, etc. I have been lucky enough to...
o1951, yes the rod as still on the crank and believe it or not the journal looks ok. I have already rebuilt 6.5l turbo I bought at a local salvage yard. The block that was in the truck, the one that piston came from is a "605" block has the smaller outer mains. The problem is that when I got it...
Well, now that I have my new motor more or less buttoned up, I got to taking the old one apart to see ust what it was that went. It WASN'T a spun bearing as you can see in the pic I was REALLY surprised when I found this!!
Great build and thread!! Thanks much for taking the time to document it all!! I am curious, you said you added an additional batter in the rear, how are you charging it? Do you just have it wired in parallel to one of your others?
Thanks!
Greg
Hello all! Got er done! Set of new AC60G glow plugs and a new relay, the relay is from Advanced Auto manufactured by BWD, part of their Z series, part no. GPR1Z, and its made in the USA!!
The relay was only $20. It matches exactly what was already on the truck. The one I had still functions, but...
Thanks for all your help and suggestions! I think I have traced the problem down to a faulty GP control card. When I removed the ground from the relay it clicked "open", no voltage to the GPs. When I ground the relay manually it functions fine. The 24 volts I was reading at the plugs was due to...
I know this, but as I said the relay does not appear to be functioning, the plugs are new 60Gs so I don't think it was a simple plug or two causing a cascade failure. It seems to have happened all at once. Now that I have them all out, 3 of them have "exploded" in the cylinders the tips are...
