M1123 Purchase and Build Thread - Virginia

Received the GA title today and headed to the DMV immediately to get plates. It started off smoothly. Then the "different" things started to come up. Like the VIN being 6 digits, etc. The person behind the desk quickly went out of view to talk to a manager. She came back and said that she...

    M1123 A2 - Intermittent sound

As far as the big sound, are you guys saying it is the main fan just behind the radiators? I've never seen that fan NOT turn. Or is there another fan set under the radiators? I wrapped it with a cut-up motorcycle inner tube just now and I don't hear it anymore.

    M1123 A2 - Intermittent sound

When driving the Humvee for a little while, there is the constant buzz sound that I assume is the Cadillac valve for the power steering or something. Every now and then, that sound will go away and a loud rushing of air sound happens. It sounds like a lot of suction like a massive fan turns...

M1123 Purchase and Build Thread - Virginia

Updating both threads: Every single glow plug from this truck failed the continuity tests. Completely open circuit on every one of them. I thought I was testing them incorrectly until I went and got the other 8 new plugs (I bought 16 new ones to have more on hand) and they tested perfectly.

No Low Beams - Only High Beams

haha okay, but it's a heck of a lot easier to check the wire right at the headlight first! But I suspect you are right if both went out at the same time like that.

No Low Beams - Only High Beams

My M1123 had both low beams burned out as well on non-LEDs. The only way to be sure is to test for voltage at all of the points. The easiest thing to do is to unplug right at the back of the lights and check for voltage on the appropriate wires (look for the wiring diagrams in Volume 3 of the...

    taboo to talk

I hope someone in Michigan argues the M1123 side, at least. Michigan's entire case is made based on the number of things that are agreed to and signed stating "For Off Road Use Only". I purposefully went the M1123 route because that was NEVER the case for the entire life of the vehicle.

M1123 Purchase and Build Thread - Virginia

I ended up calling the Georgia DMV to see if they had any record of the title or could give me any update. Normally, DMVs only talk to you about your stuff, so I fully expected them to completely blow me off since GovPlanet is the only name on the title. After starting at caller #26 in the que...

I didn't mean that I expected the DMV to hand me a title that day with the electronic SF97. I wanted them to look at the electronic copy and just say "yes if I receive that official paper form and it looks just like that and has no surprises, we could give you a title with that reassignment...

    Hmmwv m1123

I'm talking specifically about people in the 13 states that cannot use the SF97 and need a title that doesn't say "Off Road Use Only" on the M1123s that don't have that restriction. I think it would be good to allow them to have the option to pay even more if they wanted to, not to raise the...

    Hmmwv m1123

Yeah, I have to readily admit that I don't know anything about the process. In MY process, we kicked around the idea of trying to use an SF97 and reassignment letter, and I was sent an electronic version of the SF97 for my vehicle so I could ask the DMV if it would work. They answered with a...

    Hmmwv m1123

Personally, I wish GovPlanet would still give the option for the GA titles. The reason I was given was that it was too expensive to do them. I'll estimate that it is ~5% of the auction price. As long as it is relatively easy to get consistently, I think they should offer the title at a 5%...

    Hmmwv m1123

The wording of "Clean SF97" is no longer in the M1123 ads that I see. The only hint that it would be a "clean" SF97 would be the absence of any "Off Road Use Only" verbiage in the Notices and Restrictions portion of the auction.

In my case, there were tailgate holes missing for the chain brackets, so I think mine never had a tailgate. There are many more missing parts than just those depending on which final configuration you're after. Check out my build thread in my signature, everything (I think) is in there.

    GP off road titles

In early November of 2016 it was Montana still.

    After market wheels?

Agreed. I guess the question I would ask then would be if you plan on using it for offroading. The Humvee is not very good at articulation, and it's not uncommon to have one wheel completely off the ground. So to me, I try to spec the wheels out so that one wheel can handle three quarters of...

    A2 (M1123) Cold Starting Trouble

The glow plugs I removed from my system look exactly like the "non-swelling" Swellman's that I bought. They even have the same numbers on them. They were swollen, drooping, and had burn outs. Whether that is due to improper starting procedures or the Nartron EESS, I can't say. But I did...

    After market wheels?

An additional problem is that a lot of the aftermarket wheels are not load rated high enough. HMMWVs are kind of a rare beast because they don't necessarily tow a lot when compared to modern vehicles, but they are designed to carry a lot. When I looked at my truck for example, the payload...

steelsoldiers' new HMMWV project... sort of!

I'd be interested in them too, but I'm assuming they're 16.5" Cepeks. I'm only interesting in 17" ones...
