My recommendation when changing the fuel filter is to undo the bolts that you can reach on top of the filter first, then undo the bolt that holds the strap around the filter, then go inside the cab and remove the two bolts that hold the strap to the firewall. This frees up the filter housing...
The pups went for their first ride today. It was a little cold so the lab ended up coming into the front to be a little warmer. :)
For reference, that's a 100 lb German Shepherd and a 70 lb black lab mix.
Also, I noticed while watching Mad Max: Fury Road last night that a HMMWV is in that...
I'm now in a stall waiting for titling paperwork. From auction end date until now has been ~4.5 months. I've had the vehicle in my possession for a shade under 2 months. I'm eager to get it on the road but I have to continue to be patient.
I installed the fiberglass troop seats installed...
Why are you replacing the steering column?
I'm glad to hear yours was as successful as mine was. It's interesting watching this work. Before I would get a wait light for at least 5 seconds every time I turned the key. With the new system, I illegally drove to the store and a little bit...
Good! I feel like I was one of the firsts to get one of the M1123 trucks from GA, so I made that thread to help people like you. There's not muh info out there on these. I'm glad you found it!
This is really spiraling off topic, but I'm loving the conversation. That serial # of 2446xx falls roughly 25,000 units after mine in the serial number range. If my truck rolled off the line in 2005 at 219,638 and that one in 2007 at 2446xx, that matches pretty well with AM General's claim...
Called AM General and they will be calling me back. They should be able to tell me by the serial number or SOMETHING.
From their website they say: "More than 280,000 HMMWVs are produced by 2012". My serial # of 219638 might be an indicator of the year even if they can't help. I'm trying to...
Confirmed as a Navistar cast block. Diamond under fuel injector pump (I only saw it from the doghouse side).
I didn't see any date code. Can anyone show me a picture of where it should be? I'm thinking it might be hidden under the Rebuild plate.
So using this data plate as an example, you're saying that it looks like this is a 2005 model year truck?
Edited to add that I've confirmed my "2005" M1123 has a Navistar block and it is a GEP 6500 Optimizer:
The odd thing about my truck is that it is a 2005 model year according to the data plate, but the rebuild date on the engine and tranny is 2009. The tires are from 2009 also.
So if they replaced the data plate in 2009 during the reset, I'm unsure why it would say a delivery date of 2005...
From what I'm reading from Videris's link, it looks like it at least confirms that it is a GM or GEP block and not a Chinese one. Now the question is about whether it is a GEP or a GM. Sounds like I need to look at the date code on the other side and for the diamond in the valley under the...
Picture attached of casting number on the engine just in front of the transmission on the driver side. The transmission rebuild plate is visible, and the engine has a similar one on the passenger side under the doghouse.
According to the linked discussion, this means I do not have a Chinese...
I always thought that having the GEP motor will depend on which year your truck is and obviously the maintenance history. I fully expect that my 2005 M1123 DOES have a GEP 6.5, I wouldn't expect a 1998 M1123 to have a GEP 6.5 unless it was replaced.
For what it's worth... mine has plates glued...
Success! S3 EESS kit installed and all glow plugs replaced. The existing glow plugs exhibited all conditions. One was drooping so much that it required pliers, three were swollen up but only one of those required pliers to remove, a few had pitting and a few looked fine. None broke off in...
Success! Smart Start system, TSU, and all glow plugs replaced and it fires right up now. I upgraded to the S3 Smart Start system (white label in the picture).
