Mine is not broken and is already 12v, manual plugs and starts and runs fine.
If the controller is like the one in my van then it doesn't do a full cycle on every turn of the key... it only turns on when the plugs cool off and then only on enough to bring it up to temp...
I was just asking....
I will be parting out my 87 Chevy diesel van and it has a th700 tranny.
Is it possible, and if so how hard, to put that in my M1009 to get the overdrive?
Is it a good idea? bad idea? why?
Has anyone put together a howto on this conversion?
Thanks
I live in Mid-town (westport area) I have had my M1009 for about a year and love it. I briefly drove them in the army but mainly the hmmwv.
I have not seen any other CUCVs in KC since I got mine.
I looked at those in Jeff City... was tempted.
Good to have more in the area.

To anyone the responded to my turbo call... My guy had the turbo in the back of his truck ready to bing it to me and someone stole it. I hate thieves!
Thanks for all the interest ....
At this point, had I know what was going to happen, I would have gotten some really good penetrating oil and did a cycle of
penetrating oil
heat
penetrating oil
heat
penetrating oil
heat
repeat many many times
then slowly back out the bolt then
penetrating oil
heat
then back in with the...
Well, I ended up having to drill thru the old bolts and and putting a nut and bolt on it to hold the housing in place until the earth thaws... I spent 5 hours outside in 7 degree weather working on this... it is my daily and my the cold killed my wife's van so I had to complete it.
Anyone have...
my thermostat was stuck open thus I could not get above 150 degrees today..
So I am changing it out and the bolts broke off. I have about 1/2 inch sticking out... my question is... how do I go about getting the rest of the bolt out?
I tried heat/wd-40 and vise-grips.... no good
Thanks
How much of a PITA was it putting in that block heater? Which side did you put it on and which freeze lug hole did you use? Did you have to remove anything to do the work?
Well then I guess I don't get it. Isn't is a 24v meter?
Anyway that was a complete waste of time. I did the resistor thing jumped from pos to neg and tried it in-line.... When it was in-line I tapped on the side of the meter (gently)... maybe to free it from sitting in one position for a...
Ok, I am going to try the resistor thing and like kentuckycucv I could only get 150 ohm resistors.
So, what is the point of connecting the resistor from the pos to the neg on the volt meter rather than in line on the pos side?
