Ya, I just into doing things only once (nothing lasts forever but you can sure try and make it). If you're going to go through the hassle of pulling parts and doing something, might as well take a little bit of extra time and do it right.
WD-40 and PB are good lubes, but it you want it to last, clean all the dirt and gunk off and rub some lithium grease (out of the tube) on each linkage. The stuff lasts much longer (IMHO) and is what they used coming off the line. The same thing is great for all the window mechs. Just make sure...
Yes, I have used them for years. I had one at work when I was active duty for a few years. I have mine and absolutely love it! Some people don't get it and it doesn't have all the "comfort features" as we are now used to (as a society). I am excited to put a radio in it during the next few...
I know this is old, but I have a few questions-
1. how easy was the headliner to install?
2. How does it handle down bumpy roads (i.e.- does it shake and flex)?
3. Does the backside have any insulation?
4. How did you run the power wires? Are they hidden?
5. What is the "phone booster" do...
WILCO!
Just thankful to still be alive. WWP is a GREAT organization. I have been supporting them on all my eBay sales before they got really known. I have seen them move mountains for several of my friends.
My guess is roll the glass down, pull out the old pieces and pop the new ones in. I know it will be a little tight once you put the news ones on, but it will settle and get easier over a couple of days (from what I have been told).
I am adding up all the seals I need and MAN it's expensive! LOL! Right now I am up to $380 worth of rubber and still have a few more to add. This is going to be one of those "a little bit at a time" replacements. I am trying to pay off some debt so at the moment they have priority. After I...
I just noticed this myself and had the same question. I am also looking for the rubber piece that fits on the top of the door. Also the rain gutter is rusting out on the passenger side and will have to oder a new one. I am trying to find a source as well. GM might be the way to go. I will...
Sharecropper, thank you again for your wealth of knowledge! I will add these to the list of GM parts I need. I know SOME things can be done with aftermarket parts, but most things need the original. I hate spending the extra money, but would rather have the CORRECT part that fits RIGHT and will...
I am going to be using this too once I am ready! The more I read about it, the more I am liking it. Is it best to use a regular car spray rig? I have never painted a truck..... yet. I am just trying to make a list of things I will need to buy/borrow.
Ya, my drivers side weather stripping is shot. I swapped some pieces with my 1031 but need to replace the rest with new stuff. How is the felt attached in the track? Is it just glued in or pressed in with tabs? I also lubed up the window tracks (not the felt, the tracks with the wheels in them)...
Please post up when you do Eric. I am waiting to order for the top because I need to fix some rust and dents so I am not having to pull the top and put it back on multiple times.
