    Did you buy this vehicle from G/L? Has the doghead starter relay mod been done (typically one of the first things done to a CUCV)? Absolutely change the fuel filter if you don't know how long its been on there... the TM's (Technical Manuals) have great directions.... start with the operators...

    Just pulled the air filter and found the hose from the vacuum pump to the Trans Vacuum valve on the IP was coiled up and under the Filter housing... reconnected and test drove... shifting just fine now.

    Re did rear brakes... new shoes springs and cylinders... new rubber line, and blead... by passed the black out switch because none of the lights nor turn signals would work. replace the wait, 4x4, an oil lights with leds... the gen lights don't like leds.... now need to install the new...

    My 1987 Suburban just had one of these 'humvee can' motors swapped in that was purchased from someone who bought a bunch of of GL... The truck hasn't run this good in years... so they get a big thumbs up from me... the only bad side is that the cooling system continually is shedding fine red...

    Once done we noticed we'd gotten some more grease on the disc... that is bad for breaks, but break cleaner aint good for grease... so we shot it on a rag and wiped and wiped until it was clean... one of us put on new clean gloves (having a box of them helps work clean... you just take them off...

    Be sure to clean any remnants of old grease and the seal from the spindle, the disc, and the bearings. Again read the -20 TM... We used a bunch of brake cleaner and shot it on the bearings over a shallow container that caught the waste and was reused for dunking to get all the grease off...
