Next we removed the break caliper by removing the two allen head drive bolts... my 8mm allen was to small.. the 10 mm was to big... and that was all my metric allen drive kit had... luckily Shade_tree had a 3/8" and it fit perfect! :)
We also took the opportunity to replace the pads. It...
Now here is where an 84 will differ from all other m1009's.... they had 6 lug spindle/bearning nuts... depicted as 14... where as all others had 4 lug nuts 11 & 13 like you'll see here... I picked up the spindle nut socket in the tool isle at Autozone... I've seen similar with the tools...
Then the inner snap ring (5) comes out with standard snap ring plyers allowing the inner hub body ( 8 ) to come out... I don't think my 1986 M1009 had parts 9 nor 10 unless they were somehow in the inner hub body... and I know it didn't have a washer behind the snap ring as depicted in section...
We then decided to remove the hub body's(#8 ) innerds, though it is not really necessary as they will come out all together...
Then pry out the outer snap ring (7) {its just a round wire with a break in it, that engages and sits in the outer portion of the hub]... its a little tricky to get...
Well Shade_tree and I finally finished servicing the front wheel bearings and when we did the second one I took pics... please review the TM... this is only meant to serve as a pictoral illustration of the information found there.
We found the retaining washer for the spindle nuts broken on...
The Warn Spindle nut Kit and premium hubs went on fairly easy. Especially with Shade_Tree's help.
After a lot of research I'm pretty confident Matt1031 is right: the Corperate 10bolt that the M1009 comes with has the same spindle size and set up as the DANA44... the kit I used was listed for...
Wow... great replies...
Some great info and buys their Mat1031... about half of what I paid for the Warn kit...
and firecontrol86, thanks for the offer... I may take you up on it if the warn comes in and doesn't work, but I don't think that is likely.
I know the missing seal doesn't...
And we have crickets....
Sorry Dave, I'm no help on this one... I've been lurking here too... looking for a good 12v unit for when i undertake the 12v conversion prior to putting in my Air Cond system...
just figured out that warn makes a replacement...
WARN Manual Hub Spindle Nut Kit 32720 is what I'm buying... will have to wait for it to arrive before I can drive the truck again...
Considering buying new locking hubs as well...
So shade_tree and I have been picking away at the frankenblazers front left wheel as it was getting hot on short trips...
I drove it to Shade_tree's house as his driveway is level and mine isn't.. He Pretty well diagnosed it as a brake issue, but we wanted to pull and repack the bearings, so...
No expert here... but why not just bypass it and add a simple button... this is how my 87 suburban with a 6.2 is... and its probably how my CUCV will end up.. :)
I haven't tried to print your latest version... but... when I put that fuse box pic in it printed all dark and was barely legible... I think its due to it being a color JPG file... it really needs to be converted into a B&W GIF or PNG or BMP... then it will print well... hopefully what you put...
Fixed wiper washer by installing a resevoir from a late 80's pick up with a seperate motor...
Ran down a few other leaks... looks like rear main seal is leaking when I park nose up hill... :(
Still getting a few drips from the radiator too... stop leak helped but didn't fix it.
Also pulled...
Regular Motor oil... disappointed in results
So regular motor oil hardly improved the lubricity of the fuel in the study... at 200:1 that would be .5% mix... From what I read here most guys run 10% and up to 50% filtered WVO... I have to wonder what the lubricity results would be at a 5% and...
