Penetration
If worked for McGyver it must be good!
Seriously though, my question is how well does this method penetrate?
Do you get enough penetration for the weld to hold together under a major stress,
such as a cracked leave spring bracket??
Lvtp-5
Are you sure the vehicle you saw wqas a LVTP-5?? It should not be that babdly damaged so as not to be able to determine which vehicle model it is unless it was
derilick there a very long time.
It could easily be an LVTP-1 from WWII, left there during the campaign to push
the IJN...
Sulfur?
I seems like the price jump happened just about the time our wonderfull EPA decided the world would end if the sulfur smell continued to spew from our exhaust pipes?
The forced the refineries to process the fuel with much lower sulfur emissions and
BOOM!, the prices jumped like crazy...
Boots
We ran zippered boots on our Mud Racing truck for three years before replacing
them, and we had no problems after running them HARD through deep water
and mud. They kept their seal very well considering the abuse we gave them!
I was very impressed. We replaced them with a new set of...
Starting Problem?
I fired up both my M109A3 and the M52A2 today with the outdoor temperature
around twenty degrees(it was 9 degrees this morning when I got up!).
Both trucks rolled over fine w/o plugging in their engine oil pan heaters, but
neither would fire.
I gave each a quick shot...
Bed adaptation
When I took the fifth wheel off of my M52A2 and adapted a M35 cargo bed to it,
we shortened the box to nine feet. This left a small "deck" behind the spare tire
and tool box to climb up onto....
Great looking truck. Great minds think alike![thumbzup]
2/3 inch the best
I found 1/2 inch drive units did not have the power I needed at times, so I jumped up to 3/4 inch. The 3/4 inch will spin off bearing seal nuts and that pesky nut that holds
the u-joint on the differential.
The only 3/4 I found under $100 was at Harbor Freight. I had my...
Who?
Who/what company manufactured the HEMIT wheels originally?
Perhaps they would bring them back into production in various configurations to
fit 2 1/2 tons, 5 Tons etc....aua
I use the style that you install on the bottom of the oil pan(Wolverine brand) and in
cold weather(under 20 F) i give it several hours to do the job well. in very cold
temps(single digits and colder) I leave it plugged in overnight and it does not cause
any problem.
With the M52A2 I...
Nice work
Nice work. I have been looking at the backside of my M52A2 with a similar setup in mind. We just got the M35 cargobox shortened and bolted on, so the trailer hitch will be the next project...:)
Tire Grooving
Okay-I bought one of those heated tire grooving tools(110v) and tried to groove
my 11:00x20 NDTs on my 5-Ton.
I was basically trying to angle cut across the center solid section of the tread to
open up a channel for water to escape and give better wet road traction.
End result=...
Ditto on all the above.
Plus recently I bought a 3/4 inch Air Driven Impact and use air from on of the
Glad Hands" to power it. The M52A2's air system is stout enough to operate
the impact wrench with ease. We tested it on the lug nuts and it works great!
Note that I have not yet...
We are leaving a short gap between the cargo bed and the toolbox/spare tire deck, just enough to walk across; about 12 inches. We saved the bed from a terrible fate,
as it was long ago converted to a wood-hauling trailer and had been sitting in a nearby woods for at least fifteen years...
I finally moved up from dueces and bought a 5-ton(M52A2) with 23k miles on the odometer. My son and I pulled the 5th wheel and are in the process of mounting a cargo box(shortened) onto it.
auaI am looking fior affordable rims for a set of Goodyear 395/85x20 tires. My son is a fabricator,
so he can reconfigure the wheels to fit the duece bolt pattern.
Finding affordable wheels seems to be a problem. $250 for wheels is out of the question on my budget!
