Had the M52A2 out this weekend on the icy roads(we got about a foot of snow
Friday night).
I have to say that it is a little exciting to get a 18,000 pound truck skidding at a
45 degree angle on a road with deep ditches along both sides! It does indeed
have a "pucker factor" involved when...
I know there is a list of tire dimensions somewhere?
But I can put 12.50x20 tires on the front of my M52A2 and leave the
1100x20 duals on the rear axles, correct? I thought the two tire sizes
were the same height??:?:
L1a1
My L1A1 Rifle could probably penetrate that thin armour using AP rounds....:-P
It does look cool though, as it has that engine compartment "tough truck' appeal:beer:
Llc?
I just found this post, and after reading most of the comments I have one suggestion for anyone: If it is authorized in "your neighborhood" form a LLC and title all your MVs to the LLC. That way you are simply conducting your business... 2cents
Thank goodness I don't have this...
Great Jpb!
Love what you have done with the old girl!
Great to see you have a motivated crew working with you.
P.S. Cute puppy! I love the big fury canines.:)
Bobbed!
I have never understood the need for so many people to "Bob" 6x6 trucks. It
negates the three magic words in the English language: "Six Wheel Drive".
Two are better that one. Four are better than two and Six are better than four!aua
Great truck
Great looking truck, especially cool is the storage over the cab.
I guess I also do not understand the "oversize" label and the need to loose an axle?
How is this an "oversize load"??? It does does exceed weight limits(estimate 25k
gross for the truck), it does not look overly...
Fuel Line?
Also check for a kinked fuel line. It can allow enough fuel to flow for the engine to
idle just fine, but flow is inadequate to run at "power"....
So-to summurize...
In summary: Is the modified HEMTT wheel, converted to "six lug bolt pattern" from
Kevin the only true source for duece wheels when mounting oversize tires?
Any other options for ready to mount wheels when trading in the 900x20 and
going "large"???:driver:
Front Shaft?
Is the front driveshaft in place?
Even with no power to the rear shafts, the sprag should engage and send power to the front wheels and you could drive away.
But as was asked above, you need the shaft between the transmission and the
transfer case in working order....:driver...
Tecumseh
I have been using the TECUMSEH 24v charger that was originally designed for
personal mobility vehicles(Amigos, etc). Worked great until this past weekend.
After driving the M52A2 I hooked the charger back up to the batteries and heard "Snap-Crackle-Pop". I disconnected the charger...
Testing was a success!
We tested over the weekend using two 4x4 post(8 feet long) proped up against
the rear of the open cargo bed. Hooked a small handcrank-style cable winch to the front of the cargo bed.
I had no problem hoisting an inflated 1100x20 wheel/tire up into the cargo...
Test Drive!
By all meams try to test drive several trucks if possible.
Decide what you like the best and compute that with what you truly wish to
do with the truck. Are you going to just drive around empty, or due you intend to
work the truck and carry some loads. This all plays into...
