I tried to get part of it out with a chisel and still cant get the outer rim. I was afraid of messing up the case to bad or scratching that bearing inside. Its stuck in there good. Its hard to work around the tailshaft so i figured if it was out of the way it might make life a little easier. Is...
Well the seal isnt coming out, except for a few peices ive managed to mangle off of it while trying to get it out. Its almost seized in there. Should i take off the back of the transfer case in order to have better access to it? Its hard to work half way propped up on the ground. Whats involved...
Rich, i didnt have to trim my frame or run exhause on the outisde frame rail when i put my turbo in. Had to have a down pipe and new exhaust fabbed up wich a muffler shop did no problem.
Id go with the turbo. I did the 6.5 GM-8 turbo on my 6.2 and it is a world of difference. It was a dog before and took all day to get up to speed. Its no powerhouse like a cummins or duramax can be but its a night and day difference than with a NA motor. I found all my parts on ebay and the swap...
Thanks for the advice, greatly appreciated. To bad its raining out today and i cant finish the work or paint my roll cage. Is there a bearing right behind the seal? The lip of the tcase doesnt look damaged, i did lift it 2 inches and think i need to lengthen the shaft because it was sticking out...
Ive got a 86 m1009 with a 208 tcase. The rear outputshaft seal was leaking pretty bad so i dropped the drive shaft and attempted to pull it but its in there pretty **** good and hard to get a screwdriver in there to pop out with the output shaft sticking out the middle. So far ive just managed...
Got it thanks, just took a look under the hood. Are the wires going into the original housing for the water in fuel gauge and what should i do with them when i take the original mount off?
Looks like im going to tackle the spin on filter conversion. Looks simple enough to do. i was reading here on this thread http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/36435-my-cucv-spin-fuel-filter-mod.html How do you bleed the air out of the lines with that filter and what is the pink wire hes talking...
After hooking up my heater core and starting the truck up i noticed a leak. First thought it was coolant but took a closer look and fuel is leaking from fuel filter. Pouring out at a pretty good rate to. The filter is new within the last 6 months and all the hoses that go into it are in there...
I had the bumper made for me by a local offroad/fab shop. I didnt take any pics of the turbo setup but i'll take alot of them and start a new thread about it.
I had the same shifting problem with my m1009. It wouldnt shift until almost redline even at part throttle. The vaccum lines were cracked and leaking so after replacing them it worked alright. That is until i lost 3rd and reverse when i was playing in the desert but i dont think that had...
Does anyone have a part number for the shelf to mount the radio behind the pass seat or know where i can buy one? Im starting my next project on my m1009 and want to get the radios installed.
I dont have any pix of the install but it was pretty straight forward. i used all the 6.5 diesel parts, upper/lower intake, crossover tube, pass side exhause manifold and gm-8 turbo. The exhaust needs to be redone with teh crossover and down pipe. I had the oil return line ran back into the oil...
This is my first military vehicle, a 1986 M1009. Ive had it about 9 months and so far ive added a gm8 turbo, new exhaust.rebuilt tranny, 2 in lift with 33x12 BFG all terrains and a rear bumper w/tire carrier. The next project will be to get the factory radio steup put in.
