Ditto - I too would like to see how this setup works (from the IP to the dash)! I'm swapping in a 4L80E trans and will eventually turbo my 6.2, so a tach to monitor it seems like a good thing to have...and this setup looks to fit my need/budget.
Does a tiny tach really work by reading the impulse/ pressure spikes off of the IP? Is it a 1/4" or. 6mm transducer for the 6.2? I wonder if it could be adapted to help a stand alone shift controller for a 4L80E trans? I know the controllers are supposed to work well enough off of a TPS, but a...
Yeah - if you have the pan off and are girdling the crank, it almost makes sense to put in a HD pump... I am on the prowl for 6.5 injectors. I'll keep building my parts stash so I can get it all together for a full on wrench-o-rama one of the upcoming long weekends...but the 4L80E goes in first...
Is that a 3" down pipe to a 4" exhaust? While I am not a fan of the stack in the bed (eats valuable space), i do like the big exhaust. Does it have the good rumble/whistle?
I hadn't gotten that far just yet. I was looking at some of the 6.5 TD setups - Banks, AFE, S&B, etc.... They seem to want an awful lot of $hekels for their goodies... I might have to go down to the plasma center a few times to collect enough scratch for this rebuild! Any veterans that have done...
Dang - you even got the down pipe! I'm still scavenging parts for my turbo/4L80E upgrade, and reading furiously. The J-code blocks seem to be able to handle a steady 10-12psi without much fuss, so gotta make sure the boost doesn't spike too much over that. That said, my plan is to redo the...
Alright - 3 hours in the broiling sun (it hit 84 deg down in Montross, where I got this thing) dropping the trans, crossmember, and front drive shaft (just in case) and I'm smoked.... but I have a cherry, rebuilt 4L80E. The guy spent close to $5k at the dealership getting it installed, drove it...
Sorry to hear the TCI controller is a POS... note to self... will steer well clear of them! I'm going to look at a 4L80E this weekend...but the transfer drop is on the wrong side, so I'm going to have to finagle my 208 on.
Sounds like it's about time to head to the junkyard with a torch and a good metal saw! I found this bit of goodness on a website dedicated to 73-87 GM trucks...

Now I know what I'm looking for, and (if I can't find it) a profile to...
That's what I was thinking, Recovery... 02Ford - follow away - your 1009 will be easier since you have independent seat bases up front already. I think the rear won't be too hard either.
I measured again, and I could fit 3 across, but it would be SUPER tight. However, if I keep the bench...
Alright rod/mod squad... I'm looking to put bucket seats and a lockbox (Tuffy?) in Merle, so yesterday, I picked up two MRAP seats off of Dudley (Thanks for saving them for me!). I just put one in the cab to see how it fits (bench still in), and I measured...I can do 3 across and keep the bench...
Looks like here: http://www.usshift.com/pricing.shtml
if that's shift controller and harness for $665, that's not bad at all!
how tough was the install, Clepto?
Yes on the intake manifold (that big silver thing on the tailgate), and no on the drivers side exhaust manifold. The crossover was set up to run the passenger side 6.5 exhaust manifold (turbo mounts there) and the driver's side 6.2 exhaust manifold. I think that, if I fiddle with it, I'll be...
