Yup - think you are on it. We used to have to take samples for the Army Oil Analysis Program (AOAP) and the older vehicles used to have those sampling ports on them.
+1 That is an amazingly versatile bed. Throw in some of the aforementioned stake pockets and maybe some tool/storage boxes (the long rectangular ones) on the sides to get max utility.
I really like what that did for your truck! What lift kit did you use? Any pics from the side (90deg) to give us a real perspective? Thanks...
(p.s. - MKT is great too...would love to set one up as a BBQ / tailgate machine...what do you use yours for?)
Yeah, mine does it as well now - squeals like a banshee for a min or two then pipes down. It squeals worse on cold days and on almost every start now. I'm going to tighten the belts and hit them with some of that fan belt dressing...see if that make it pipe down a bit!
Rich - look through the thread titled "the mythical CUCV 4L80E swap" on here.... True Knight lays out how he had to use both a TPS and a flywheel mounted tach sensor to get the trans controller dialed in....
OK - I found a set of sliders for the old square nosed Suburbans....

Think those will work if I fab something up to mount to the bottom of the MRAP seats? Anybody ever done MRAP seats in a 1028...
I'll have a go at the rifle clamps (mine are mangled/missing parts) if you are willing to part with them! I like the idea of restoring those fixtures in mine...they hold a hunting rifle just as well as an old M-16A1! PM me and we'll work out fair price/shipping.
yup - budgeting for a longer front shaft and a shorter rear. I'm hoping my TH-400 will hold on for a few more weeks so I can hide a few more shekels and assemble the last few bits for the install!
Learned a few engines ago - ALWAYS go with new bolts/studs on the exhaust manifolds (and other high heat/stress areas). That was a painful lesson I am not likely to forget anytime soon.
Ah - Thanks - makes sense now! I'm not planning on lifting Merle at this time, so I hope I won't be chasing driveline vibration gremlins. If i do get a shudder, I'll probably just shim the rear to get the angle back in tolerance. That will work...wont't it? Experts who have done this, feel free...
We we aren't to the turbo just yet...trans crapping out is the more pressing need. I have all the oil lines in the turbo I scavenged... gotta go back and look at them again. They are both the braided stainless with the anodized fittings, and the return line runs back into the block off plate on...
TCI shift controller and Throttle Position Sensor ordered, and none too soon... TH 400 is making some weird noises and shifting hard (doesn't like DC traffic). I sense a weekend in the not so distant future will be occupied by a transmission transplant for Merle!
